    November 25, 2008:
    Time for a Top 9…

Posted by Christine E. at 12:49 pm in Baseball,Random Thoughts,Red Sox Comment (1)

It’s been a while since I have done a Top 9 list–so I figured we were due. And since there is pretty much buptkus as far as anything else to talk about–what better topic than:

    Top 9 Reasons Why the Off-Season Sucks….

    Here goes:

Number 9: The Skanks always seem to get some player that the Red Sox want… (Not that it helps them much these days, right, Carl Pavano???)

Number 8: Manny whines about how he wants to be traded (Oh, sorry, that already happened…)

Number 7: Scott Boras is featured prominently, as he always seems to have some (all) of the big name free agents–and some (or all) of the Boston Papers feel the need to write some dumb-assed feature article about the slug…

    Number 6: “We don’t comment on on-going negotiations” UGH….

Number 5: Total and Utter Lack of meaningful baseball news…

Number 4: Someone always starts talking about some RIDICULOUS acquisition the Sox should make (Barry Bonds, Roger Clemens, Gary Sheffield, Ted William’s head…)

Number 3: DirectTV and NESN have conspired so that anyone who does not live in the NESN viewing area has access to anything directly related to the Red Sox…No Remy Awards, no Big Papi cooking show, No Red Sox Classics, nuthin…

Number 2: Did I mention Scott Boras is a revolting slug and we hear about him too much?

And The Number 1 Reason Why the Off-Season Sucks: We still have over FIVE MONTHS until Red Sox Baseball!

Coming up: If you’re looking for the perfect Christmas Gift for your favorite Red Sox fan: The Boston Baseball Writers Association Awards dinner, to be held on Thursday January 8th at the Westin Waterfront Hotel in South Boston. Tickets for the event are $150 each, with proceeds supporting various charities.

Some of the awards this year include: Red Sox MVP (Dustin Pedroia–natch!) The Jackie Jensen Award (Kevin Youkilis–for the 2nd time), Red Sox Rookie of the Year (Jacoby Ellsbury) Red Sox Minor Leaguer of the Year (Jeff Bailey) Boston Pitcher of the Year (Jon Lester) and Red Sox Fireman of the Year (Jonathan Papelbon)

2 Days until Turkey day–are you ready yet?
