    Red Sox 4, Angels 5–In 12 Innings:
    Off to Game 4…

Posted by Christine E. at 5:13 pm in Baseball,Random Thoughts,Red Sox Comments (2)

Since I had no expectations that the Sox would get this far, beating the Angels not once but TWICE in their house, I really cannot be too upset about last night’s loss.

Yes, Josh Beckett struggled a TON, barely getting out of the 5th, and throwing 106 pitches, 59 for strikes, and giving up 4 runs on 9 hits (including 2 home runs) while walking 4 and striking out 6.  He left with almost identical stats to Angel’s starter Joe Saunders, which meant if one team could break out, it was anyone’s ball game.

And the score stayed at 4-all, with each bullpen throwing 6 scoreless innings until the 12th inning, when Javier Lopez gave up the winning run on a goofy single to Eric Aybar, which score Mike Napoli, and  lead to the Angels winning their 1st game against the Sox in the last 12 tries…

My concern is that letting the Angels in a bit, moves the pressure right back on to the Sox.  I DO believe the Sox need to win tonight, as going back to  Anaheim for a game on Wednesday is just asking for trouble….

What would really help is if Dustin Pedroia could break out of his 0-13 funk he has had since the start of the ALDS–he went 0-5 with a strikeout in last  night’s contest, and has left 13 men on base in the series….

What should be interesting tonight is that both the Angels and the Sox may be without their closers.  Francisco Rodriguez threw 33 pitches in the 10th inning, and Jonathon Papelbon threw 31 pitches over 2 innings of work…

And what I feared (but also expected) would happen is one of the most painful and boring NLCS in a while–The LA Dodgers vs the Phillies, and, unfortunately now I have to cheer for the Phillies, as the thought of a Dodgers World Series (with, or without the Red Sox) makes me all kinds of nauseous….The press is  ALREADY talking about it “Oh! Can you IMAGINE???  The Sox vs the Dodgers, who have MANNY! and NOMAR! and DEREK LOWE!  And the former Manager of the SKANKEES!  Oh!”  Ewww……..

I was wondering where my daily e-mails were:  I am on RemDawgs daily e-mail list, and I was just wondering he other day what was going on, as I hadn’t gotten anything recently from him.  And today I get an e-mail stating that Jerry Remy, President of Red Sox Nation, as well as color guy for NESN (the ONLY way to watch a Red Sox Game!) and his his websitewill now be part of TruMedia and their fan community Sawxheads. You can check out his profile on Sawxheads here

The White Sox have also lived to see another day, beating Tampa Bay 5-3 to bring the series to 2-1, Tampa Bay.  They started their Game 4 this evening, at 5:07 pm…..

Tonight:  Potentially, the game for all the marbles, and I like the Sox chances–In a rematch of Game 1, Jon Lester takes the mound at Fenway, vs John Lackey for the Angels, hopefully with the same result….  1st pitch is 8:37pm….

Red sox will win tonight. I must say, I don’t like the commentators at all. It seems to me that they’re going for the angels. Ellsbury got SHOVED off second base by the second base man. And did anyone else think the emp was calling the most RETARDED calls. Especially a call he made on ellsbury. Emp called a strike and the ball was a million years away from the base.
Love Lowell, but glad he’s not playing today. He killed a couple plays for us last night…. anyway… GO BOSOX

      Hi Denise

Thanks for your comments! Glad I am not the only one who thinks the commentators are slanted towards the Angels! And who is that on the field guy? His taste is clothing is ATROCIOUS!!!

And the Sox just scored–Whooo Hoo!

      Go Sox!
