    September 30, 2008:
    STILL Over 26 hours….

Posted by Christine E. at 6:43 pm in Baseball,Random Thoughts,Red Sox No Comments

Until the Sox kick off their ALDS games with the Angels…so more randomness from the Boston Red Thoughts Locker….

Minnesota and the White Sox and STILL in a holding pattern after last night’s win by the White Sox–They play a tie breaker, a winner takes all game, which started at 7:30 in Chicago on TBS…Frankly, I don’t really care which team wins, not a huge fan of either…

So my postseason predictions will happen tomorrow, which will give me something to write about while we stay up ALL NIGHT for the game to freakin start…

So now the Sox are backing off the direness of the Josh Beckett oblique injury. Is it posturing? Or is his oblique really not that bad? He will be playing catch today and throwing a side on Thursday, in preparation for a Sunday start of Game 3, but now there is even talk about his starting game 2 on Friday…

I actually have NO problem with Jon Lester starting Game 1–He has actually been the ace of the staff this year, going 16-6 over all, and making 20+ quality starts this years, and the no-hitter in May against the Royals. And best of all? He owns a 9-0 road record, with a 2.37 ERA…

Speaking of Jon Lester, he was named AL pitcher for the Month of September yesterday, his 2nd honor this year. It’s a shame that Cliff Lee did so well this year–’cause Jon Lester should really be in the mix for the Cy Young….His stats that won the hardware in 5 starts in September? 4-1 with a 2.14 ERA, while walking 13 and striking out 28…

Looks like Mike Lowell and JD Drew could actually make it into some games in the postseason, after both took in the optional workout in the Fens yesterday, before the team left for California. Let’s see how they feel a day or two after, and when Mike takes in some fielding…If the Sox can get them back to a decent level, they will be a HUGE boost for the team…

Halleluiah! David Aardsma is going to pitch in the instructional league in Florida! Which means he will NOT be on the ALDS roster–which means someone else will have to let all the inherited runners score! Timlin, perhaps? Also joins Aardsma in instructional league is David Pauley and Devern Hansack….Tito will unveil the rest of the ALDS roster tomorrow morning…

    Pitching matchups:

Game 1: Jon Lester vs John Lackey

Game 2: Daisuke vs. Ervin Santana

Game 3: Josh Beckett (we hope) vs Joe Saunders

If Josh Beckett cannot go, more than Likely Tim Wakefield will get the start….

I am always on the lookout for new Red Sox sites and communities, and I heard about one that is way cool: Forever Red. A community of fans who love the Sox and New England sports, I signed up and there were TONS of topics and discussions-looks like a great place to talk about the Red Sox, the Patriots, and any other New England sport that you like…Check it out!

Tick Tock Tick Tock…and we wait….
