Red Sox 2, Tampa Bay 4–in 14 innings:
    Kissing the AL East Goodbye….

Posted by Christine E. at 10:29 am in Baseball,Random Thoughts,Red Sox No Comments

I stayed up until Mike Timlin came into the game, and then knowing EXACTLY WHAT WOULD HAPPEN, I went to bed. And I awake this morning, and I look at the scores and see that Mike Timlin, who is tied with Kent Tekulve for the most relief appearances ever by a right hander with 1,050, gave up a 3 run homer to Carlos Pena (after giving up 2 singles in a row with 2 outs…)

Josh Beckett’s 6 inning, 1 run on 6 hit outing, while walking 2 and striking out 7–WASTED…

Okajima (1 IP), Masterson (2IP), Delcarmen (2IP) and Lopez (2.1 IP)-7.1 INNINGS TOTAL of shut out, 3-hit ball–WASTED…

Yeah, I know, I should not place all the blame on Timlin for this loss, the Sox stranded 16 men in last nights 5+ hour contest, but I KNEW he was going to do this, cause this is what Timlim does anymore…

Frustrates the ever-livin CRAP out of me….&*@(&#)@*(&#)*(@&#*()@&*!!!!!!

And we still have 3 more games with them–starting Monday, in THEIR house, where we have not beaten them yet this year…freaking marvelous…

With 17 games to go, the Sox are 2.5 games behind the Rays, and 5 ahead of Minnesota in the Wild Card–so it’s looking more and more like the Sox will be meet the Angels in the ALDS, who beat the Skanks last night to clinch the AL West.

By the by, a subject that always makes me happy: The Skanks are STILL in 4th place, 11 GB, and with a playoff chance of less than 1% HA HA

WHAT is going on with JD Drew? Tito says he was available for last night’s game–but when the Sox needed him, he did not even come in to pinch hit. And then Tito has this to say: “He had a good workout, went through everything full speed, and then his back tightened up, so we stayed away from him…” His back issues have kept him out of the Red Sox lineup since August 17th…Uh oh….

Coming up: An off-day/night for the Sox–thankfully, as the bullpen is VERY depleted after last night’s 8 innings of work, and then Tim Wakefield kicks off the 4 game series against the hottest team in baseball right now–the Toronto Blue Jays. David Purcey gets the nod for Toronto. 1st pitch 7:05pm
