    Red Sox 4, Toronto 15:
Being Outscored by the Opponent 19-5?

    …Not even REMOTELY Priceless…

Holy Buckets! Talk about a lost weekend…It’s a DAMN good thing that Friday night was rained out and Clay Buchholz was pushed back to Wednesday, because that certainly would have been loss # 3 for the weekend…

In a weekend where the Sox newest starter, Paul Byrd, certainly pitches well enough to win (7.1 IP, giving up 4 runs on 10 hits (including 2 homers) while walking 4 and striking out 0 And the Sox Ace, Josh Beckett, certainly pitched well enough to lose, giving up 6 runs in the 1st inning alone (2 2/3 IP, giving up 8 runs on 8 hits (including a homer) while walking 1 and striking out 3. He threw 55 pitches, 36 for strikes…

And a blow out would not be complete without a crappy bullpen showing–of the SIX pitchers that we saw, ALL of them gave up at least a run (Okajima has THREE) except for Papelbon…

Crap, they even put That Clay Person in for an inning (he gave up a run, walked one and struck one out) and he is SO clueless that when he was told to go get his spikes, his 1st thought was that he was PINCH RUNNING…are you KIDDING me???? He is still on track to pitch in the 3rd game vs the Cookies…

And while Aardsma allowed Josh Beckett’s 8th run to score (never met an inherited runner HE didn’t like) but, surprisingly, when Timlin came in with the bases loaded in the 4th, he let NONE of the runners score…

And THIS scenario is completely indicative of this weekend. The bases are loaded in the 4th inning, 1 out, and Jason Varitek comes to the plate–is quickly down 0-2 and I say to myself “OK, Jason, if you are going to make an out, only take yourself out, don’t take someone else with you–so don’t GIDP” No sooner do I get the words out of my mouth than ‘Tek…wait for it…Grounds into a Double Play….&*#&@**&#@*()&#*@(&#*)&@*(#&@*()!!!!

And if it could not get worse, JD Drew left the bloodbath yesterday with tightness in his back–hopefully it’s just the same bakc problems he’s already had…

Tim Wakefield threw twice this weekend, as he works to overcome his stiff right should injury which landed him on the DL on August 12th (retroactive to August 7th) While he looks like he is progressing, the Sox are being very conservative with the knuckleballer, to make sure the injury does not occur. I really hope that he is back soon, and they get That freaking Clay Person OUT of the rotation.

In other DL news, Bartolo Colon threw a great inning for Pawtucket this weekend, then went into the clubhouse and threw up–No, I am not relaly sure what that means, either…

Am I the only one who is concerned that there hasn’t been any real info on Mike Lowell since he went on the DL???

Coming up: The Sox take this horror show on the road to Baltimore, for 3 games with the Oreos, whom they have had some good success against this year–hopefully THAT trend will continue, not the dreck we are currently seeing. Looking more and more like the ace of this team, Jon Lester is asked to be stopper, once again, and will get the start tonight. He is opposed by an Oreo pitcher that does not suck–Jeremy Guthrie. 1st pitch 7:05pm.
