    Red Sox 3, Oreos 6:
Not even CLOSE to being oki-doki…

So the Sox were pretty much cruising along, with a 1 run lead, going into the bottom of the 8th inning, and then Okajima comes in, and BAM! The Sox are down 6-3, and the game is over…

    W…T…F…???

And if that isn’t enough bad news, the official diagnosis on Big Papi is “partial tear of the extensor carpi ulnaris tendon sheath in his left wrist” (try saying that 3 times fast…) which places him on the DL, and has him out indefinitely…I have heard 2 weeks, a month, and season ending wrist surgery, all in the last 12 hours—and NONE of them are particularly good options…..

Tim Wakefield had another very good outing, unfortunately, with the same crappy result as last time–a loss…Wake pitched 7 strong, using 109 pitches (69 for strikes), only giving up 2 runs on 5 hits, while striking out 3 and walking 4…

Remember Josh Hamilton? The guy who has battles his demons of drug addiction, and has been very successful for the Rangers. Well, he is currently in 2nd place, only to Manny, and in front of Ichiro (!) as a potential All-Star in the voting thus far. This would be his 1st All-Star honor–and a fitting reward for all of his hard work on the road back…So take a moment when you are doing your All-Star voting and consider Josh Hamilton. Great player, great story…Unfortunately, the game will be played at Skankee stadium. I heard Enrico Pallatzo is reworking the extended dance remix of America the Beautiful as we speak…

For the Sox, Youk, Manny, Pedroia, ‘Tek and Ortiz, all lead their respective positions, with Big Papi leading all of baseball in the voting…Mike Lowell is 2nd at 3rd, after A-Fraud (which STILL boggles my mind, as it does every year…) and believe it or not, Lugo is actually 4th amongst shortstops–I would have thought he would be 14th…

In a surprising move, Hazel Mae is leaving NESN, having handed in her resignation this week. No word on who her replacement may be–But I AM available, if anyone is asking…

Some major and minor hardware: Big Papi was named Red Sox player of the month for May, completely rebounding from his abysmal April. He hit 8 homers with a .318 BA, and 22 RBI’s. Brandon Moss, getting back from his appendicitis, was International League player of the week, with a .400 BA, with 4 homes (3 of them in 1 game!) and 9 RBI’s…

Tonight: Justin Masterson returns to the bigs for his 3rd start this year, in place of the ailing Daisuke, kicking off the 9 game home stand (the home stand I will be at next week!!!) and a 3-game series against the inexplicably in 1st place Rays. Matt Garza gets the nod for Tampa Bay. 1st pitch 7:05pm…
