    A Bunch of Randomness…

Posted by Christine E. at 11:57 am in Baseball,Random Thoughts,Red Sox No Comments

I know I can use the old, “Can’t lose/win if they don’t play!” adage here, but I reallyREALLY hope that the day off will help some in terms of getting back on track–and lets hope that Milwaukee is as sucky as I remember them to be, so the Sox can pick up some easy wins….

Surprise Surprise: Looks like Bartolo Colon will not be exercising the June 1 clause, where he can go elsewhere, because chances are very good that he will be making his Red Sox debut sometime very soon, especially since Clay Buchholtz is on the DL. And, his performance for Pawtucket yesterday pretty much seals the deal: 6 innings of work, throwing only 64 pitches (45 for strikes–70%!) only gave up 1 hit while striking out 4 and walking none–He also hit 95 on the radar gun…

And a mention for Ted D of Red Sox Dad who is at Fenway Park for the 1st time EVER for tonight’s game. I hope its everything you imagine/wished/hoped it would be…

Looking very good for Coco Crisp (migraine) will be back in the lineup, but JD Drew’s status is still up in the air, despite the fact that he thinks he will be ready to go. Julio Lugo hasn’t played in almost a week, since being kneed in the head at 2nd base on the 9th. While I never want anyone to get hurt–not having him in the lineup, reduces the risk of game-altering errors…it…just…DOES…

And with the Brewers tonight, GUESS who will be back! (And no, I dont mean Eric Gagne…) GABE KAPLER!!! Yeah! I wish the Sox were able to sign him in the off-season–he is really missed this year…

Welcome Back Lou Merloni! Holy Buckets! Never saw this coming…Lou is the latest Red Sox Analyst for NESN, and will join TC, ECK, Jim Ed, Ken Macha and David McCarty on the pre and post game shows for 20 games this year. His debut will be May 27 at 9:00pm….GREAT quote from Lou with regard to the pressures of playing for the Sox: “It made me laugh when [Julio] Lugo was talking about the negativity in this town. This guy’s got no clue what negativity is. No matter how bad it is right now, the true Red Sox fan sits back and says, ‘They won a World Series in ’04 and ’07. It’s changed…

Tonight: Daisuke will take his 6-0 record and face Jeff Suppan as the Sox take on the Milwaukee Brewers at Fenway Park for the 1st time in 11 years. As a point of reference, Tim Wakefield was in his 3rd year with the Sox the last time they played at the Fens–and beat them 4 out of 5 games–AND the Brewers were still in the AL then!) 1st pitch 7:05pm
