    Red Sox 5, Tigers 1:
    1,000…and counting…

Red Sox fans are very lucky–not every team has a pitcher who, when he steps on the mound, makes you feel there is no way he could lose…The Sox had that in Pedro Martinez, and in Curt Schilling. And once again, the Sox have that elusive TRUE ace–in Josh Beckett. Every time he pitches, I never think he is going to lose, and in the rare cases be does, I am always shocked…

The Sox definitely had the winning Josh Beckett on the mound last night, going 7 strong, throwing 102 pitches (73 for strikes) while giving up 1 run on 6 hits (which were all singles…) while striking out 8 and walking 1–and hitting his 1st batter of the season…and the 1st strikeout of the 7th inning (to catcher Brandon Inge) of work was his 1,000th…

2nd verse, same as the 1st: Curt Schilling had his 2nd throwing session yesterday, and is still reporting no pain when he throws, which is a beautiful thing…He will throw from 60 feet again this weekend (about 25-30 throws) and then, barring any unforeseen, will advance to 75, and then eventually, 90 feet…And Apparently, at Curt’s request, the Sox have dropped the conditioning/weight clauses from his contract. Management is working on converting these clauses to some type of performance incentives…

Both Alex Cora and Sean Casey are doing well in Pawtucket in their 3-day rehab assignments before they join the team later this weekend…In last night’s game, case was the DH and went 2 for 4 with 2 singles, and will play 1st base tonight. AC played 2nd, going 1-4, and will probably DH this evening…The question is, who will be the 2 player son the block when these 2 are activated. Tito already said one of them won’t be Jed Lowrie…

We can all agree that Kevin Youkilis is amazing–but what about his numbers in Detroit??? 4 homers in this 4 game series, 8 total career at Comerica…If he ever left the Sox (bite your tongue!) he could have a pretty good go of it in Detroit…

5 weeks today! June 12th Marks the date of my return to the Holy Land. Purchased my brand new Mike Lowell Jersey–and it shipped today…when that gets here I will be all set for my trip…Whooo Hoo!

Coming up: Jon Lester kicks off another 4-game series–this one against Minnesota. 1st pitch is 8:10pm. Boof Bonser is pitching for the Twins…
