    Red Sox 9, Detroit 10:
    A Complete Waste of Effort…

    CAUTION: Rant in Progress…

As I was watching bits a pieces of last night’s game, and the Sox overcame some pretty awful pitching by Clay Buchholz (4.1P, giving up 5 runs on 10 hits, while walking 1 and striking out 6) and Julian Tavarez (1 IP, giving up 3 runs on 4 hits, while walking and striking out 0) and even managed gain the lead up to the 9th inning (Thank you Mike Lowell and Youk!). And I said to myself, “Even if they lose, I won’t be too upset, as they battled hard and came back to make a game of it…”

Until Julio Lugo, once AGAIN, lost a game for us…That is the 2nd game in the last 7 days we can directly attribute to an error made by him…

10 errors…TEN ERRORS–in 36 Games. At this rate, Sir Julio the Useless will have FOURTY FIVE errors by the end of the year–and that does not even count the postseason, if his errors dont screw THAT up for us.

I was talking with my husband about Lugo this morning, and he asks me, “What is up with this guy? Is he Theo’s little brother or something, and his mom is making him play him”

Theo: “C’mon Mom, Julio SUCKS, he is the worst player ever!”

Theo & Julio’s Mom: “I don’t care, now you let your brother play, or you are GROUNDED young man, do you hear me?”

    Theo: “Mooommmmmmmmmmm…..”

Thus concludes this episode of “Boston Red Thoughts Theatre” and I dont even want to talk about it anymore–just makes me want to throw something at the TV…

Some good news tho–even when Alex Cora gets reactivated this weekend, Jed Lowrie (her apparent to the shortstop position) will be staying with the club. If Lugo’s nonsense continues, I cannot see who they would not give the kid a chance. I know Tito has the reputation for standing by his players, but that is when it comes to hitting slumps. Lugo’s errors are flaws in his fundamentals–he has always had them, and they won’t be getting any better…He won’t “snap out” of this…

Looks like Bartolo Colon is back on the path, looking to get some starts at Pawtucket, probably beginning this weekend. In extended Spring Training in Florida this week, he threw 2 scoreless innings with no after effects. He will start with 3 innings and go from there. The option in his contract that allowed him to seek employment elsewhere is he did not make the bigs by May 1, has been extended to June 1, because of him missing over a month with the right oblique injury…

Tonight: The Sox play the final game of this 4 game series, going to win the series (should be going for the sweep…grrrrr) Josh Beckett takes the mound against Tiger starter, Justin Verlander. 1st pitch 7:05pm…
