    Red Sox 12, Tigers 6:
    Winning another Series…

This felt like a closer game than it was, especially in the 8th inning when Julian Tavarez was on the mound, there were no outs, the bases were loaded the score was 8-5 (2 runs had already scored) and freakin Gary Sheffield and his constantly waving bat were at the plate…at that point I had to walk out of the room–I was seeing visions of Grand Slam–right there….Fortunately, he did the ever popular GIDP–and Batsh*t Julian managed to get out of the inning only giving up 1 more run–and that was the closest the Tigers came to beating the Sox–the extra 4 runs in the 8th inning did not hurt either.

Wake has a no-no going through 4 innings, (he threw 84 pitches before giving up a hit–throwing 109 overall) but, as it is with Tim Wakefield, everything changes in an instant. He did get the win on this game, going 5 innings allowing only 3 hit and 2 runs (1 earned) and striking out 5. What killed him were the 5 walks and the 2 hit batsmen…

Not that it’s at all surprising, but Mike Lowell has been placed on the DL with a sprained left thumb–to replace his spot on the 25-man, the sox purchased Jed Lowrie’s contract from Pawtucket. While Youkilis will play 3rd base and Sean Casey will take his spot at 1st, Lowrie will primarily be a bench guy while Mike is on the DL…But the good news is that the Sox don’t expect Lowell to be out longer than the 15 days–or April 25th…

You lose, you gain: Mike Timlin will be activated today and ready to go in the bullpen in time for tonight’s 1st game in the Skankee series. Words from Timlin: “Threw strikes, got people out…” Bryan Corey was designated for Assignment to clear the roster spot for Timlin. Guess that means David Aardsma and Javier Lopez are the final 2 who will complete (at least for now…) the 2008 bullpen…

Holy Buckets! I just found out today a friend of mine from around here (she has a friend who has Season Tickets in RF) was actually at the game/ Ring Ceremony on Tuesday! I am so way jealous–she will be ponying up the pictures, so as soon as I get them…

Yes, the Skankees are coming to town, and yes everyone is talking about how beat up they are (both Jeter and Posada are nursing injuries) and how Mike Mussina can get past 85 on the radar guy, and how Joe Girardi isn’t making super decisions– It…just…doesn’t… matter–the Skanks always bring their “A” game when they see the Sox–While I think the Sox are capable of a sweep (and it would be nice way to stockpile the season series, as we all know they always get better) I think it will be an uphill battle–in the snow–both ways….

Coming up: The 1st of 18 Sox/Skankee games for 2008–and the 1st opportunity to be subjected to the horribleness than is the YES Channel–or perhaps a local channel that carries the Skankees? Clay Buchholz gets his 1st experience starting a Skankee game–he is opposed by Chien-Ming Wang–1st pitch 7:05pm…
