    Red Sox 1, Oakland 5:
And that is a Sayonara from Japan…

Posted by Christine E. at 12:53 pm in Baseball,Random Thoughts,Red Sox Comment (1)

Another crack of dawn–another game–although ESPN 2 will be televising it at 1:00pm for those of us who cannot get NESN–not that it matters–I’ll still be at work then…So I guess it will have to wait until next Tuesday nightNIGHT before I get to see any actual live baseball…CRAP…

But then again, after the abysmal game that was played today, it was probably a good thing I did not see any of it…

Jon Lester struggled mightily, as did the Red Sox offense, Manny, hitting his 491st homer was the only run the Sox had in this game. Jon Lester threw a total of 83 (47 for strikes) pitches in 4 innings, giving up 4 runs on 5 hits, while walking 3 and striking out 5….

Dont forget about the Boston Red Thoughts Giveaway! I have 5 copies of Play Station’s MLB08: The Show in PS3, the best-selling and most realistic baseball simulation available today, that I will be awarding 1 copy every Friday, for the next 5 weeks to the best comment of that week–you can “enter” as many times as you like–so start commenting today!

Walking wounded update: Josh Beckett is proceeding nicely on his rehab with lower back strain to ready himself for his (hopefully) start next week. He did he normal side session yesterday morning, and will continue his progress.

Bartolo Colon has a toothache, so his pitching was placed on hold until today. Barring any unforeseen, he will be flying to the left coast tomorrow, and will pitch in one of the 3 exhibition against the Dodgers this weekend….

Despite the fact that Brandon Moss had a very good spring (hitting .308) and was only the 3rd Boston player in history (and the 1st since 1945) to hit his 1st major league homer run in the season opener, AND was responsible for yesterdays win with said homer tying the game in the 9th inning, he has not made the roster cut, being optioned to Pawtucket.

So Jose Canseco‚Äôs 2nd book, “Vindicated” which is basically just a “na na boo boo, I told you I was write about all the ‘roiding in baseball” book, hit the shelves on April 1, but apparently a bunch of people have already read it I, personally, did not read the 1st, and have no intention of reading this one either–what a waste of paper and a printing press. It is interesting to note that the strength of his hatred for A-Fraud is pretty astounding, going so far as to actually say in his book: “So A-Rod, if you’re reading this book, and if I’m not getting through to you, let’s get clear on one thing: I hate your f***ing guts.” His vitriol is a result of allegations that A-Rod (who was single at the time) constantly hit on Canseco’s wife…

The official word from Direct TV with regard to “opening day-gate” was this: “temporary technical difficulties…that resulted in some channels not being available to customers. The majority of our channels were not affected and we have since corrected the problem…We deeply apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused our customers – and particularly Red Sox fans…”

Coming up: No real baseball until Tuesday, when the Sox and Oakland meet up again in the middle of the night to continue their 4-game series. Until then, Friday night at 10:40pm will be the 1st exhibition games again the LA Dodgers–which will not be televised…
