Red Sox 9, Yomiuri Giants 2:
    Less than 24 hours…

To Opening Day! Whooo Hoo! Too bad the game is on at 6:00am tomorrow morning… UGH…But I have EPSN2 all of TiVo ‘ed up and ready to go…Since I really don’t like to watch games after they have happened, I am not sure how much of it I will actually watch…But the fact that relevant games will be played SOMEWHERE, even if am not watching them–That is a very good thing…

2 homers in the last 2 games, one a Grand Slam–from JD DREW…Holy Buckets! Could this be the turnaround the Nation hoped and wished for all of last year??? Apparently he is being called “Mr Japan” over there, and, as part of being “Star of the game” he receives a $10,000 prize…must be like the cash “reward” given by the manager to good pitchers as well.

If that is the case, Tim Wakefield is certainly deserving, pitching 5 2/3 innings, only giving up the 2 runs on 5 hits, while striking out 3 and walking only 1–and the best part of it all? Wake felt good, and is enjoying his time in Japan: “It’s a pretty cool experience pitching over here…The biggest thing I had to get used to was the cheering going on during their at-bats. It was pretty cool….”I’ve always wanted to come here…The culture here is very interesting to me and it’s been an honor to be here, and to be able to pitch here and to get a taste of the culture and do a little sightseeing and see what it’s like over here.”

Looks like Mike Timlin will be once again going to the DL, as a result of being hit on the right ring finger–an injury that required stitches (only 2)..

Speaking of DL–Looks like Josh Beckett will be joining him there–despite the fact that he pitched in his 1st “real” spring training game (the 1st two were against college teams) yesterday, throwing 35 pitches over 2 inning, with no restrictions…From Josh on his outing: “It was fine, no problems…I was healthy. Still just going day to day. I’ll come in [Monday] and hopefully feel good, and do normal day one stuff.” Now the goal is to build up his strength and get him stretched out for normal 5+ inning starts…

There is only 1 more spot open on the 25 man roster, and it will go to a pitcher: Bryan Corey, David Aardsma and Javier Lopez, while Timlin is on the DL, 2 of them will stay. I think it will be Javier Lopez, but I think it SHOULD be Bryan Corey, who has had an excellent spring….

If Bobby Kielty is not added to the 25 man roster by the end of this month, he has a clause in his contract where he can go and sign with another team…

Coming up: Daisuke gets the Opening Day Start for the Red Sox against Joe Blanton of Oakland. The role of the “home” team will be played by Oakland, as this game kicks of a 4-game series…1st pitch: 6:05AM ET…
