    Red Sox 4, Mets 3:
    Breaking a nasty losing streak…

Finally! After losing 6 in a row (and having 1 tie) the Sox, helmed by Tim Wakefield, managed to squeak out a win against the Mets…Wake did pretty well (any outing where he doesn’t give up 6 runs in an inning is a pretty good outing) going 4 innings and giving up 2 runs on 5 hits, while walking 3 and striking out none. Papelbon, adding his new pitch, the slider, which brings his arsenal to 3, followed up Wake’s good performance by pitching 2 perfect innings, with 2 strike outs…

Good thing Wake is healthy, cause if Beckett and Daisuke dont go to Japan–he will follow Jon Lester as the 2nd starter

Every day, it is looking more and more like Josh Beckett will not be joining his teammates in Japan, as they are leaving a week today, and even if his back is better, a 16-17 hour plane flight will certainly not be a positive step for his back healthy. No official announcement has been made–and probably won’t be until the last minute, with the shortened Spring Training,

And everyone is feeling the pain of this truncated schedule–Julio Lugo and Coco Crisp haven’t played in a Spring Training Game yet–and with the season looming–that is not good. From Tito: “We have a lot of moving parts right now on this trip…The normal Spring Training aches and pains today don’t seem so normal because we leave in a week. We need to remind ourselves of that, we need to make good decisions, also being aware that we’re leaving. We’ll be ready, we’ve just got to get everything sorted out.”

Today: Game #5, and the final game against the Twins today, for all the marbles–or at least the Mayors Cup, which was won by the Sox last year. 1st pitch is 1:05pm at Twins’ Hammond Stadium in Fort Myers, with Clay Buchholz getting the ball for Boston…
