    Red Sox 0, Dodgers 4:
Not even waiting for the hand basket…

Posted by Christine E. at 11:47 am in Baseball,Random Thoughts,Red Sox No Comments

What…the…*(&$#@&*#()*&@*() is going on? On Friday, all looked well. OK, the Sox had lost a couple of games, but hell, its only Spring Training, it doesn’t even count….

Now, on Monday morning, RSN wakes to find Josh Beckett tweaked his back and had to leave his game on Saturday, and now it’s not even known if he will be well enough to pitch in Japan. (The team leaved next Wednesday the 19th) Fortunately, it appears to be muscular, rather than structural (bone spurs, or a disc problem), so the chances of it being a bigger problem seem slim…But the big issue with going to Japan is the 16 hours flight each way…not a great way to treat back problems…

And those couple of games the Sox lost? We are now at 6 losses–IN A ROW. And the stellar offense we all know and love? 4 runs in that span–FOUR RUNS–in SIX games…And Julio Lugo cannot even be blamed for this, ’cause he has been out for nearly a week with back problems!

And not only is Josh up in the air, it appears that Daisuke is having the same struggles as last year–nibbling, nibbling, throwing far too many pitches (72 pitches in 3+ innings, giving up 3 runs on 3 hits)and left the game in the 4th inning…

So I guess they are going to make me crazy–ALREADY? With more than 2 weeks to go until the season even begins????

How pathetic is it that Bartolo Colon is looking pretty good these days…ARGH! The 43 pitches, thrown to minor league batters yesterday, went well, and has put him in line to pitch on Josh Beckett’s turn on Thursday in a “real” game. He will be limited to about 30 pitches in that contest…

The 1st cuts were made over the weekend, none of them a huge surprise, ad Dave Paul, Edgar Martinez were optioned to Pawtucket, Kyle Jackson and Argenis Diaz were optioned to Portland. and non-roster players Michael Bowden, Hunter Jones, Justin Masterson, Jeff Bailey, Tony Granadillo, and Gil Velazquez were sent to the minor league camp.

Got my direct TV bill yesterday–renewal members get a LOUSY 5% discount on their MLB Extra Innings–$2.50! And while they have no problem billing me this month, they still have NO info up with regard to the season, or if Red Sox fans will be able to see the games in Japan…

Today: Jon Lester gets to play stopper (hopefully) when the Sox face the Mets at Port St. Lucie. Johan Santana (remember him?) gets the start for New York. 1st pitch: 1:05pm

Can I just tell you how I cannot WAIT to baseball to begin???
