    Red Sox 6, Reds 7
    Tied up 3-3

The current Red Sox Grapefruit records, that is. Javier Lopez has a rough day, getting lit up for 5 runs (all unearned) in the 6th inning, walking 1 hitting 1 and giving up 4 hits. Alex Cora went 2 for 2, which means that Sir Julio the Useless is still out with the bad back. But, as long as he is off the field, it’s a good thing…

And while Jon Lester fared better in his 2nd outing, going 3 innings, and only allowing 1 run on 4 hits, while striking out 2 and walking 1. His pitch count (56 pitches, 33 for strikes) is a bit high–which seems to be a recurring problem for him–not allowing him to get very deep into games…

So, the Sox will face Joe Torre today, but with a very different feel time, as now he is at the helm of the LA Dodgers, not the Skanks. Tito and Joe have known each other a very long time, as Tito’s father, Tito Sr played with Torre with Atlanta in the 1960’s. So being able to be “friends” again is a welcome change. From Tito: “I’m glad…Me and Joe actually talked about this a little bit. It just gets so out of whack, the whole [rivalry] thing. I like Joe so much, but at the same time, you want to beat each other’s brains out — that’s just what you want to do. I’m glad he’s in the National League. I feel like I can go put my arm around him tomorrow and nobody’s going to start yelling at me.”

Today is the day the Sox have set as their deadline (the league date is March 11) to renegotiate or renew any of the players contracts that are still outstanding. Among those are Jonathan Papelbon, (of which we are painfully aware he feels painfully underpaid–boo-fricken–hooo…) Jon Lester, Dustin Pedroia, Manny Delcarmen, and Jacoby Ellsbury (I wonder if Satan has sent in a 72 page binder on his performance?)

Crazy eights: The new capacity of Fenway Park, with the addition of the Coca-Coal Corner? 38,888…

Today: The Sox face off against Joe Torre’s Dodgers (doesn’t have the same teeth though, does it?) Tim Wakefield throws 1st pitch at 1:05pm. Old friend Derek Lowe gets the start for LA
