    Red Sox 2, Marlins 3
    Red Sox 2, Twins 2
You win some, you lose some…

So Bartolo Colon is on his best behaviour, saying all the right things, and acting like a model citizen. He even pitched a very good 1st bullpen session on Monday morning, throwing 42 pitches to Doug Mirabelli under the watchful eye of pitching coach John Farrell who had this to say: “For not being on the mound for three-and-a-half weeks, he threw the ball to both sides of the plate. He found the glove well…He got through his front side to allow him to really carry the fastball through the zone. I’d say there was a few pitches that approached 90…”

So why do I still feel like I did when the Sox signed Eric Gagne last year? Maybe its the fact that he went from Cy Young (and the 2nd winningest pitcher from 98-05) to winning 7 games in the last 2 years–TOTAL…UGH….

How fun is this? John Henry said this in an e-mail yesterday” “I’m a big Hank fan…Just to ensure he knows how cool Red Sox Nation is, (this weekend) we officially inducted him as a member of Red Sox Nation and we are sending him his membership card giving him access to an array of options including our newsletter, bumper stickers, pins, Green Monster seats and a hat personally autographed by David Ortiz” This, of course, is in response to Hank’s “something must have crawled up my ass and died” remarks last week about the Nation being the creation of the Sox and ESPN, and that they would be “restoring the universe to order” by putting the Skanks back on top–oh, OK…

And in true WAFFLE fashion, Hank goes on to say THIS: “I can tell you this, we have a lot in common…Red Sox ownership and Yankee ownership has a lot in common and a lot of common interests. You never know, we may end up being partners outside of baseball. The Yankees-Red Sox will always be the greatest rivalry in American sports on the field, but we have a lot in common in a lot of ways.” oh, OK….

Well, one thing is clear–he’s as freakin NUTS as his father is…

412 is a magic #: Yes, the Sox just unveiled the new “Coca-Cola Corner” (Dumb name) which gives the fan 412 more opportunities to get to the Holy Land ( or 33,000+ over the span of a whole season…) But its still not enough…The new “corner”, located on the State Street Pavilion level, will feature picnic tables, Sox and Coke decor, and food and beverages….And ya know the (3) 25 ft Coke Bottles that were on the light tower in left field? GONE…

Looks doubtful that MLB Extra Innings will be accommodating Red Sox fans by televising the games in Japan–how much does THAT suck? While its not a definite yet (hell, they don’t even have the 2008 schedule, or renewal information available yet) it does not look good…Hopefully, ESPN will…

Today: Daisuke took the mound at 1:05, going against Phil Dumatrait and the Pirates, and did fairly well, putting in 3 innings of work, throwing 47 pitches, 28 for strikes. The game is currently 4-1, Sox in the 6th …

Current Grapefruit League record for the Sox: 2-2…

And, Ted? You owe me an apple pie–to replace the one you took from my fridge…
