    February 7, 2008:
    Who would KEEP this stuff?

Posted by Christine E. at 12:50 pm in Baseball,Random Thoughts,Red Sox No Comments

Things that make you go ewwwww: For over 6 years, Brian McNamee has allegedly been keeping used needles and gauze that he used to inject Roger Clemens with…YUK…WHY on EARTH would you jeep this stuff? And what exactly would the storage method be? On a shelf in a box, prominently displayed in his living (Look! Roger Clemens DNA!) In the Freezer? This goes waaaaaaay beyond gross…

McNamee said that the reason he kept all of this was for this very situation…If it ever came up–he would have something to back himself up….

Already Mercenary Roger’s lawyers are starting the “fabricating evidence” spiel: “Brian McNamee is obviously a troubled man who is obsessed with doing everything possible to destroy Roger Clemens…McNamee lied to the police who were investigating him for sexual assault, he lied to Senator Mitchell, he lied to the federal government, and now he apparently has manufactured evidence. He has changed his story repeatedly on this matter. He claims to love Roger Clemens, he says he modeled being a father on Roger Clemens, he said Roger treated him like family— but he now claims he kept blood, gauze, and needles from Roger Clemens for seven years. It defies all sensibility.”

…BUT, if testing on it comes back that it is in fact Roger’s Clemens’ stuff–with something other than B12 or Lidocaine (love the Numb ASS feeling!) Holy Buckets! How the hell is he going to explain that? And lying to congress (whether or not you are under oath) can land you up to 5 years in jail…

Eric Hinske signed a minor league contract with Tampa bay for $800K, if he makes the big club–sound alot like the deal Bobby Kielty signed with the Sox…

I thought he was going to sign with the Sox? Apparently, Brendan Donnelly and the Sox could not get anything workable done, as he just signed a minor league contract, with an invitation to Spring Training with Cleveland. The man just had Tommy John surgery in August, and is expected to not be ready until at least July, so I am thinking the ST invite is more than kinda useless…

Players who received an invitation to Spring Training by the Sox: Kevin Cash (catcher) , Jeff Bailey, Keith Ginter, Tony Granadillo, Jed Lowrie, Joe Thurston and Gil Velazquez (infielders) Justin Masterson, Michael Bowden, Dan Kolb, Lee Gronkiewicz, Hunter Jones and Jon Switzer. (pitchers) and Bobby Kielty (outfielder) Position Players report February 20, with their 1st full squad workout 2 days later, on the 22nd…

1,467 miles–that is how far “The Truck” goes from Fenway to Fort Myers, Florida, and its leaving on Saturday at 10:00am from Gate B–so you KNOW Spring Training is not far behind…Whoo hoo!!

And 3 weeks today? The 1st Spring Training Game….Yeah!
