    January 21, 2008:
    3.5 weeks….

    Posted by Christine E. at 12:40 pm in Baseball,Random Thoughts,Red Sox Comments (5)

    It’s hard to believe that in 3.5 weeks, Pitchers and Catchers will report to Fort Myers, FL to begin the 2008 campaign…and then about 5.5 weeks after that, the Sox will play their 1st game of the season in JAPAN. That makes a total of 9 weeks until we have meaningful baseball…YUK….It was better when it was 3.5 then 5.5 weeks…

    So Youk, and Kyle and Javier Lopez all filed for arbitration, but this weekend the Sox and Javier didn’t let it get any further than that, as they signed him to a 1 year contract wit a base salary or $840,000, more than doubling his last year salary of $402,500. Also included are performance bonuses of $10,000 each for 65 and 70 games. He has 61 appearances last year, spanning 40 2/3 innings and finishing with a 3.10 ERA and 2-1 record…His 61 appearances was 2nd in the bullpen behind Okajima, who lead the team with 66…

    Kevin Youkilis, Kyle Snyder and the Sox have submitted their numbers, and it will be interesting to see how they end up:

    Youkilis has asked for $3.7 million, which is nearly 9 times what he made in 2007 ($424,500) The Sox have countered with nearly 6 times what he made last year–or $2.525 million…

    Kyle has asked for $1.025, and the Sox have countered with $725,000…

    So I mentioned last week, that Congress is now sic-ing the Justice Department on Miguel Tejada for allegedly lying to a congressional committee in 2005 about his performance-enhancing drug use…and he was just traded to Houston to finish out the 2 years (and $26 million) on his 6 year (and $72 million) contract he signed with the Oreos…So maybe he and Mercenary Roger can hang out or something…

    Its interesting to note that his Slugging Percentage and his homers have decreased each year since 2004–and what is up with the very large spike in production in 2006? Hmmmmmm…

    Speaking of Mercenary Roger, Esquire has a most excellent article about Roger and all of the lies, half-truths, revisionist history, fabrications, and just plain d*ck moves he has come up with in his storied career…

    Some highlights: “In 1986, Mercenary Roger wins his first Cy Young and the AL MVP, prompting Hall of Famer Hank Aaron to opine that pitchers should not be eligible for the MVP, since they don’t play every day. Clemens thoughtfully responds, ‘I wish he were still playing. I’d probably crack his head open to show him how valuable I was.'” WHAT a sweetheart!

    Speaking of being a sweetheart–how bout THIS GEM: “In 1990, he told Oakland pitcher and recovering alcoholic Bob Welch: “Have another beer. Be a man. Stop drinking milk.” Yep, he’s a d*ck….

    And one of my personal favorites–from his interview with Mike Wallace on 60 Minutes a couple of weeks ago: “I’m angry that that what I’ve done for the game of baseball and the personal, in my private life, what I’ve done that I don’t get the benefit of the doubt. The stuff that’s being said, it’s ridiculous. It’s hogwash for people to even assume this. 24, 25 years, Mike. You’d think I’d get an inch of respect. An inch.”

    Ah huh…..Jackass….

    You just KNEW it was coming: Jose Canseco’s sequel to his 1st book about steroids in the majors, “Juiced”, titled “Vindicated,” is expected to be in bookstores by Opening Day… As much of a creep that he is–and I have not read his 1st book, nor do I expect to read this one as well…He IS vindicated…everyone gave him crap about the 1st book, but it appears that a fair amount of it could be or is accurate….But what could he possible talk about in the sequel? Or it going to be 250 pages of gloating???

      I remember the night when he Beaned Michael Piazza. Roger had a blank look on his face when Piazza was Beaned. Roger could NOT deal with Piazza’s Power & Mastery of Roger’s Fastball. That Fateful Pitch was 98MPH:

      In threatening Mr Terry Cooney, with finding out where he lives, it shows Roger what a Hideous Punk he really is;

      That he’d drill Mr Henry Aaron, is the sign of an Immature, Sheer A–hole;

      A Comrade of Mine, who used to be a Mason & is a Brother 4th Degree Sir Knight Of Columbus, revealed that Roger is a Freemason & so are other MLB Bigwigs, who managed to look the other way, whenever Roger was at his Worst-Dumbest;

      How does Roger confuse a Bat & a Ball? Only when in Steroided Mode, or in ‘Roid Rage.

      Hello Michael!

      Nice to heard from you! As always, thanks so much for your comments…:-)

      I am really hoping that all of this will show the world exactly what type of person we know Roger Clemens to –a mercenary–and a crappy human being…

      I dont understand how a bat and a ball can be confused either…

      Hope you are well!

      And I have seen Mercenary Roidger in action.In Yankee Stadium ys Cleveland, his pitching was awful as he gave up the Long Ball To Robbie Alomar & Jim Thome:

      The Yankees had more power than Cleveland & Roger collapsed on the mound. This was in ’01. Also, in ’01, Roger collapsed in the 5th Inning of the 5th ALDS Game;

      It was Saturday, June 15th, ’02, when Roger was thrown at by Pitcher Shawn Estes of the Mets, who smacked a 2 Run Homer Off Roger. Mike Piazza also homered off Roger. Shea Stadium was rocking as if it was The Roman Collesium & Roger was being thrown to the Lions. Tim Mc Carver was in DUMB Mode, while Joe Buck was calling for Roger to get plunked.

      Roger doubled off Estes only to pull up lame @ 2nd Base, but insisted that he was fine. Later in the inning, on a FC to 1st Base, Roger really went lame & his pitching was atrocious;

      He got the s–t booed out of him, complete with the Sarcastic “Roger” Chant;

      & Joe Buck was STILL calling for Roger to pay for hitting Piazza in the Head in 2000.

    4. Christine E. says:

      He does seem to have a habit of coming up short when the game is on the line–then blaming someone else….

      As for Joe Buck to criticize a Yankee, you know it had to be bad!
