    December 22, 2007:
    Holy Buckets! Its JD Drew

Posted by Christine E. at 4:40 pm in Baseball,Random Thoughts,Red Sox No Comments

In the interest in fair play, and since I have talked about all of the other Red Sox winners for the This Year In Baseball awards, I would be remiss if I didn’t give props to JD Drew for him amazing Grand Slam in Game 6 of the ALCS, which won for Top Moment in the 2007 Postseason…

It seems like just moments ago. I was sitting on my couch with my husband, watching the game and its bases loaded with 2 outs and JD Drew comes to the plate. Oooooh boy… And I say what I say during times like these–a base hot, hell, even a walk will keep us going–just don’t get out. But out confidence was not high. There we sat, on pins and needles, full expecting him to strike out or ground out, or just get OUT…

And then with that pretty swing of his, he hits a BEAUTIFUL grand slam that just makes it over the wall in center field, and I sat there, dumb founded for several second, before my husband and I both said “Holy Sh*t” and kept saying it for about 15 minutes, along with “I cannot freaking believe JD Drew hit a Grand slam…” and other such things…

So J.D. Drew joins his fellow Sox who won the award, including Hideki Okajima (top setup man), Josh Beckett (top starter), Jonathan Papelbon (top closer) and Clay Buchholz (top performance).

So lets hope that JD Drew’s performance in the post season (.333 in the World Series and .360 in the ALCS) is indicative of what he will give the Sox in 2008–rather than his 2007 numbers of .270 with 11 homers and 64 RBI’s

The Sox did not even have an entry in the “Moment of the Year” which went to Craig Biggio and his 3000 career hit. Interesting to note that Mercenary Roger’s return to baseball was DEAD LAST…with 2%…HA HA…

3 days until Christmas…I wonder if I got any Red Sox stuff??
