    October 31, 2007:
The Day After the Duck Parade…

Posted by Christine E. at 11:25 am in Baseball,Random Thoughts,Red Sox Comments (2)

So, the Sox decided not to put the duck boats on the water, probably because someone opted to bean Pedro Martinez during the 2004 celebration– then, what was the point of duck boats? Couldn’t they have just gotten flatbeds and did what regular parades do? Or are the duck boats going to be a Red Sox “thing”…

So, if the Rockies had any cajones at all, the Sox would be returning home tonight to play game 6 of the World Series tonight, ready to perhaps win on their home field–but instead, we are into day 3 of the next 1498 days of baseball-less-ness (is that a word?)

Perhaps it was best that the Sox won on the road–I am not sure Boston (the city) is ready for Boston (the team) to win a World Series at Fenway Park…I think there would be too much craziness….

And speaking of craziness? How ’bout Jonathan Papelbon all decked in his kilt and playing a broom guitar? How cool is it that he is so NAILS on the mound, but in real life, he is NUTS…Even his mother says so: “That’s him. You should have been at the high school graduation party we threw him. No difference…He has always burned the candle at both ends. When he crosses that white line, he always has played 100 percent, or 200 percent. All out. And when the work is over he plays 200 percent…”That’s him. That’s who he is. I don’t think that will change.”

It’s been a TON of fun seeing everyone bash A-Fraud and his Agent Satan for their crappy timing of announcing what everyone already knew–That A-Fraud was a liar, and could not hack it in New York. My favorite part is how Boras publicly apologized for his timing–yeah, ok, like anyone believes you are in any way repentant–not even a little–you and your client knew exactly what you were doing….just like always…

I think it would be way cool if all the owners decided that A-Fraud was not worth the $25-30 million a year over the next 22 years and knocked him down a peg–but I am sure there will be an owner stupid enough to believe that A-Fraud is the missing piece to their puzzle…

I just reallyREALLY hope it’s not the Red Sox…

Looks like Papi will be going under the scope early next week to repair/remove the torn meniscus cartilage in his right knee. I really dont know how he made it through the whole season like he did. I have knee damage, and there are days where it hurts so bad sitting still…cannot imagine that type of pain and then having to be athletic….

Tim Wakefield will also have arthro soon–an arthrogram on his problem shoulder–to hopefully resolve what ails him…

Matt Clement, Eric Hinske, Bobby Kielty…and Curt Schilling: Have all filed for Free Agency since the World Series Ended. They were amongst a group totaling 43 thus far–Mike Lowell is expected to file this week…

And if your interested, he are the teams Schill is willing to play for if the Sox do not resign him–there are 12–and notice, Tampa Bay no longer makes the list–and the Skanks are nowhere to be found: Cleveland, Detroit, Anaheim, New York Mets, Philadelphia, Atlanta, Los Angeles, San Diego, Arizona, Chicago Cubs, St. Louis, and Milwaukee.

    Happy Halloween everyone!

Christine, when Schill said he wouldn’t play for the Yankees, I believed him. If any thing, the man sticks to his word to a fault. I really hope they resign him: 4 years he’s been here, 2 championships. I know it’s not because of him solely, but ’04 may be on his shoulders, and did you see who rode the duckboat with him, and when they weren’t pitching, who was standing right next to him the whole game, yacking it up? Well, Schill was yacking it up and Beckett nodded alot, but you get my point. I think with Lester, Clay, Pap, etc.. that having that wisdom around is huge.

Nothing like the post championship glow in your stomach, is there? 😉
