    Red Sox 7, Cleveland 1:
And the Sox live to play another day…

Posted by Christine E. at 11:38 am in Baseball,Random Thoughts,Red Sox Comment (1)

Holy Buckets! Josh Beckett came through for the Sox–and how! 8 innings of brilliant 1 run ball–and that only run came in the 1st inning when Pronk GIPD’ed… Otherwise, Josh was ON FIRE-striking out 11, and only giving up 5 hits and 1 walk in that span. His record for the Postseason thus far? 3-0 with a 1.17 ERA, 26 strikeouts and that 1 walk…Jonathan Papelbon came in and threw a scoreless 9th to secure the win…

Is there anyone else out there that thinks that perhaps Julio Lugo and Coco Crisp are playing for Cleveland? They come up to bat, in the 8th and 9th hole, and are a HUGE GAPING SUCKING HOLE…Lugo had grounded into THREE double plays in the last 4 games–and Coco cannot buy a hit these days–going 0-5 with 2 strikeouts–and the only reason he reached base in last night’s game was on an error by Cleveland…

Perfect example: 4th inning, Bobby Kielty and Jason Varitek are on 1st and 2nd, no outs–and Coco strikes out swinging and then Julio comes in and–you guessed it–GIDP–Inning and momentum OVER…

And What about JOE TORRE? WOW, they offered him a humongous pay cut–a 1 year contract, valued at $5 million (his salary this year was $7.5 million), with PERFORMANCE INCENTIVES which could kick it up another 3 mil or so. What happened to “No, I don’t think we’ll take him back if we don’t advance”? I am glad Torre showed some stones and told them where to get off…This can only mean bad things ahead for the Skanks, as I believe it’s Torre that prevented them from imploding many times over the last few years….HA HA

And what about the freaking PRESS who, on a day the Sox are trying to stay alive, only wanted to talk about how Tito felt about the Joe Torre situation–Are you freaking KIDDING me? But I think Tito put them in their place: “This is sort of a big day for us to try to win this game. This probably isn’t the time for [talking about Torre]. We need to try to win this game tonight, or I might be getting phone calls. Joe might be calling me.”

Saturday Night: Curt Schilling has the chance to redeem himself for his less than stellar 4 2/3 inning showing last Saturday, in a rematch of last Saturday night’s game vs Fausto Carmona. If past is any indicator, Schilling will get it done in his 2nd start of the ALCS–Let’s face it, will anyone ever forget his 2nd start in the ALCS in 2004??? 1st pitch: 8:23pm

    Go Sox!

    1. Ted D says:

Holy Buckets: I’m 37 with a wife, 3kids, and a mortgage, and I laught like I’m in Jr. High every time! Beckett keeps us breathing, and now we need big game Curt to get us to game 7. I think he’s got it in him.

      Hope you are well,
