    Colorado 5, Arizona 1:
    Let the ALCS Begin!

Posted by Christine E. at 11:35 am in Baseball,Random Thoughts,Red Sox Comments (2)

I really think Colorado has that elusive “Postseason Mojo”. Like the Sox has in 2004, or that the White Sox had in 2005–where you just KNEW they were going to win. Now, I thought that the Tigers had it last year, but they got beat by the Cardinals…so its not always crystal clear…

Do I think the Sox have what it takes to win the World Series? Absolutely. As as team, on paper, the Sox are the best team out there. But in the postseason, sometimes it’s better to be lucky than good…and I am not entirely sure the Sox have the Mojo to take it all the way….But we’ll see…

One of the worst things about having a 4-day lay off, besides, well, the 4 days without Red Sox baseball? The fact that, so the news has something to write about, they start drumming up stories that would be better saved until AFTER the Sox end the postseason–Like whether or not Mike Lowell will re-sign with the Sox, or will they go after A-Fraud.

I have to give Mike Lowell credit–not only is he one of the most witty and intelligent baseball players around, he is also does not get cranky with the press, and answers every questions politely and to the point: “I love it here and would love to re-sign here. I’m making that clear…”I’m happy with the year I had, and I know that’s going to set a certain thought to what’s going to happen in the off-season…In that sense, I feel like I’ve done what I’ve done, but now that we’re in the playoffs I don’t think about it at all.”

Why don’t we follow his lead and focus on the task at hand?

As expected, the only roster change for the ALCS is the addition of Tim Wakefield, who has recovered from his shoulder/top of his back issue sufficiently to be able to help the team during the playoffs…Kevin Cash, who never played in the ALDS anyway, gives up him spot on the 25 man roster to accommodate him. Wake gets the ball in Cleveland next Tuesday for game 4…

Tonight: In a battle of the Cy Young contenders, Josh Beckett throws the 1st pitch at 7:10pm, opposed by Cleveland ace, CC Sabathia…

    Go Sox!
