    Red Sox 4, Minnesota 5:
Stuck in the middle at 2…*

Posted by Christine E. at 11:42 am in Baseball,Random Thoughts,Red Sox No Comments

I have said it before: HOW can the Sox lose to a guy names BOOF? UGH….This one had yukiness written all over it. The Sox has many opportunities to close the door, and they just didn’t capitalize on them….

It also did not help that Josh Beckett did not have his best stuff–at ALL. Will this hurt his bid for the Cy Young? His line: 6 innings, giving up 5 runs on 10 hits (including 2 homers), while walking 0 and striking out 6…

Also consider the fact that the Skanks won last night, with their “B” team, since the “stars” were all partied out from the over indulgence the night before. Yes, huge celebration (complete with Torre tears)…to clinch…the postseason…not the division…not the wild card…just the postseason. And no one has said nothing–but when the Sox celebrated clinching the Wild Card a few years back, the papers were filled with jabs about how the were celebrating nothing…LOVE that double standard…

Welcome Back Oki: Some good news in last night’s game: After being shut down for 2 weeks with arm tiredness, and being on a conditioning program for that span, the hard work seemed to pay off. In his 1st game since Sept 14, Hideki Okajima pitched a great 8th, only giving up 1 hit and struck out 2…From Oki: “I felt real good, and it was a pleasure to get off the mound…I was happy. I was enjoying it. I’m able to throw now. Pitch by pitch, I was having a good time on the mound.”

Happy Birthday, Johnny Pesky: The Elder Statesman of the Red Sox celebrated his 88th birthday yesterday, complete with a cake at home plate and throwing out the 1st pitch…Now, if we can only get him back in the dugout where he belongs…

So, the Magic number stays at 2–with 3 games to play, and the Skanks are only 2 games behind now–and a tie will get them the win, so the Sox now have NO wiggle room….all the weeks and month throughout the season where they had the chance to bury the Skankees and they did not. And the Skanks start a 3 game series against the Oreos, whom they have been beating as of late…

The Sox need to win…and they need to win NOW…and they need to keep winning until the Skanks lose, or they clinch the division…and Daisuke takes the mound tonight…and has had 8 days of rest–and he always does better with more rest…

Tonight: Daisuke toes the rubber, throwing 1st pitch at 7:05pm in game 2 of the 4 game series against Minnesota. Kevin Slowey gets the nod for the Twins…
