Red Sox 4, Tampa Bay 5:
Another 2 out of 3 from the Rays…

Posted by Christine E. at 11:34 am in Baseball,Random Thoughts,Red Sox Comments (2)

Why were the Sox never able to close the deal with Tampa Bay this year? While they have won all 6 series against them, going 13-5 in that span, with the exception of the 1st series, The Sox could not sweep them–the Rays always managed to take 1 game out of the 3…Because of that, (and Wake’s struggles as of late) I had a feeling the Sox would lose this one…

Wake just could not get it going yesterday, in a place where he was 9-0 coming into this game, only going 5 innings, giving up 4 runs on 7 hits (including the 2-run shot to Delmon Young in the 2nd) while walking 3 and striking out 5…

I see the horrible CRAPPY rule will go into effect like it did in 2005: If the Sox and the Skanks finish with the same record and both qualify for the playoffs, The Skanks win the division because they won the season series 10-8. SUCKAGE…

Rumor has it, that A-Fraud may go to the Cubs (we all know how he considers Lou Pinella to be a father figure to him…ooh boy…) but in an interesting twist, he may even become an OWNER–or so Scott Boras would like–Apparently, he is trying to finagle a deal where A-Rod would get ownership stake in the Cubs to play there when he takes the opt-out clause in his contract after this year–but apparently players cannot be owners–it’s against the rules (can’t imagine why…) But even if it’s only a rumor–which it probably is–although only Boras would try a stunt like that) At the very least, it’ll piss the Skankees off royally…and that is always a fun time…

HUGE congrats to the Cleveland Indians (my Dad’s team) who clinched their 1st postseason appearance since 2001…Yeah!

Coming up: The 2nd off day in the last 5, but the final one of the regular season–Yeah! The Sox head home for 6 games, 2 against Oakland and 4 against Minnesota (who thought THIS schedule up?) and the season hangs in the balance… Curt Schilling (who has pretty good as of late) will face Oakland’s Dan Meyer in Game 1. 1st pitch: 7:05pm

Christine, if the Devil Rays had any sort of bullpen, they’d be scary: that 3,4,5 of Upton, Pena, and Young is pretty freaking scary, so taking 2 of 3 is pretty good. The fact the Yankees lost today makes it that much easier to take. We WILL win the division this year, and the fact the Yankees are having to go all out trying to catch us and make the Wild Card is nice to have to see.

They will be spent by the time the ALDS gets here.

I’m sort of enjoying the off day: giving my mind and stomach time to get ready for next week!

      Hey Ted:

As strange as it may sound, I think someday the Rays could actually be a very good team–remember how horrid they were even 5 years ago? (good times, then…) If they could get some money and some veteran players (schilling next year?) they might be able to put something together…

And you’re right, the Skanks have to play out full this week to try to beat the Sox in the division–fun times..

      I hate days off (sigh)

Do you hear? The Sox are in the post season! 😀

As always, thanks so much for your comments…

      Go Sox!
