    Red Sox 1, Toronto 6:
Black Dot, Black Dot, Black Dot….

Posted by Christine E. at 8:48 pm in Baseball,Random Thoughts,Red Sox Comments (3)

And that does not even include the Black Dots for the 2 games over the weekend, or the 4 other loses that brings the Red Sox to a September record of 9-9, with 9 games to go…

Winning PitcherTake a good look at this face, Red Sox Nation: THIS is the face of the winning pitcher in a game that saw the Red Sox be swept by a team that is hanging onto .500 by its toenails, a game that saw Paps, our rock, our complete reliable, give up a grand slam, after getting beat up on Friday against the Skankee, a game when Mike Timlin loaded the bases (ok, no big surprise there, he is either completely lights out, or he throws BP), a game where the ONLY offense was a homer by JD Drew, and the list goes on…

And ya know what PISSES me off the most? NOW, the big party line is “It doesn’t matter if we win the division, as long as we get the dance” While that maybe be basically correct–that is a pretty crappy attitude–I feel like they are coasting–I understand that Youk and Manny are out of the lineup, and Coco is hurting, as is Big Papi, but watching last nights game, 3 up, 3 down, not making the pitcher work–the guy has a 6-9 record! He cannot be THAT good!

    The Sox had a 14.5 game lead in May–and it’s GONE… Freaking lovely…

And is not like Clay Buchholz sucked–although he didn’t pitch very long at all…His line: 4 2/3 giving up the 2 runs (1 earned–the unearned was on his own error) walked 2 and struck out 5.

Two comments about this: If it was Tito’s intention to pull him so soon, why not go with a spot starter like Batsh*t Julian, who could conceivably go longer, and not have to tax the bullpen?

Also, Who ever thought up the rule that if the pitcher makes an error that causes a run, that it’s unearned? I can see if, say, Julio Lugo makes an error that leads to a run, that is not he pitcher’s fault, and it should not count against him, but when the PITCHER makes the error, that is his fault, so why the unearned status?

How cool is this: DO (Don Orsillo) got a National announcer deal fro the playoffs–he has be tapped to do play-by-play for one of the best of 5 ALDS or NLDS games that will be televised on TBS this year. Hey, any time we don’t have to listen to someone who is enamored with the Skankees is a beautiful thing–Let’s just hope he gets to announce the ALDS the Sox are in–IF the Sox get in…

Coming Up: Wow, if there nothing worse than an off-day–how bout an off say after your beloved team crashes and burns and come within 1.5 games of losing the division??? Tomorrow night, the Sox send out Josh Beckett for the 1st game of the 3 game series against Tampa Bay. This is also the beginning of the last away series of the 2007 Campaign. Send Josh out there would normally alleviate the fears of the Nation–but with Scott Kasmir on the mound for Tampa Bay, and the way the Sox have bene hitting–Josh will need to throw a no-hitter….First pitch: 7:10pm

Christine: I’m worried about you. Newly married, obviously smart and talented. You have got to relax. Yes, I know coming from me that is a little deranged: but it’ll all be OK.

I want the division: we STILL lead it by 1.5, so it’s ours to lose. But we won it all in’04 as the wildcard. All is not lost. I’d rather have a healthy Manny and the rotation of Beckett, Daisuke, and Schill than a repeat of ’05 where we were scrambling just to make it. We all remember how THAT turned out.

9 games left: a WHOLE lot can happen in 9 games.

Keep the Fair, dear. Keep the Fair.

      A little deranged? OK….LOL

I’m fine…I am just frustated as HELL over the lack luster play, its almost as it doesn’t really matter to them–and that makes me crazy…

A couple of wins and I will be fine–its just watching them this way is downright PAINFUL…

      Go Sox!

    3. Ted D says:

      Are you insulting me? ;)

A few wins in a row would calm quite a few nerves.

Beckett tomorrow: that is as much a sure thing as there is these days. Let’s hope he wants that 20 wins as much as we do.

After ’04 I guess I’ve changed: we will be in the post season. And anything can happen: with Beckett, Schill, Papi, Manny, and Lowell, I like our chances as good as the next guy.

However, if I see Gagne warming up in a critical situation, I’m going for the Jack Daniels ASAP.
