    Red Sox 3, Toronto 4:
And the wheels on the bus come falling off…

Posted by Christine E. at 11:42 am in Baseball,Random Thoughts,Red Sox Comments (2)

Is this REALLY going to happen? After having the lead in the AL east since freaking APRIL, the Sox are going to blow it with 10 games to go? The lead is down to 2.5 games, the Red Sox cannot seem to WIN a game, the Skanks cannot seem to LOSE a game…what the &*#(@&*(@&# is going on here?? Yes, I understand, the Sox will more than likely get to the postseason, since their magic # for that is 4, but the division’s is 9–and there are 2.5 games that separate them from the Skanks….BUT

Do you know how horrible it will be here for Sox fans not only here in Yankeeland, but everywhere, if they cannot hold onto the division?

Repeat after me…Eric…Gagne…was…a…mistake…How many games is this that he has single-handedly LOST for the Sox? 4? 5? And do you know how many clean outings he has had since joining the Sox on July 31st? ONE…Where would the Sox be in the standings if it not for him? NOW does anyone think that getting Gagne and not Jermaine Dye was a good idea???

And the ironic thing? Sir Julio the Useless actually hit a solo homer off AJ Burnett in the 9th to bring the Sox closer to winning….too bad it wasn’t enough…

And it does not help that Youk cannot play because of his wrist, Manny is still “not ready” and Coco is still battling his back issues…

But it looks like Youk is FINALLY on the mend–the swelling is going down, and he was able to throw a little, but still no bat work for the Son of Zed: “It hurt a little trying to throw full bore…I think it can only get better. The good thing about it is trying to move forward, and hopefully every hour it gets better, and hopefully I’ll be ready go as soon as possible. I’ve got to stay optimistic and hopefully it will heal as quick as it can.” While he will not be appearing in this series against the Blue Jays, the weekend remains a possibility….

But Manny? Who freaking knows…From Tito: “I spent some time talking to Manny today…he went out and ran yesterday. He feels it. If I could push a button and make it go away — he kind of said the same thing. It’s not gone away. He’s dying to play. He’s been working hard. It’s not there.” Yeah, ok, and if he waits until he is 100%, it’ll be January….

Lost in the mess that was last nights game was that Jon Lester did very well, throwing 6 2/3 strong innings, only giving up the 1 run on 3 hits, while walking 4 and striking out 5. He threw 108 pitches in his outing…

Tonight: The final game against Toronto for the season, and the 3rd game of this series–the Sox need to win to avoid the sweep, and at least keep the lead in the AL East to 2.5 games….Clay Buchholtz, in his 1st start since pitching the no hitter on September 1, takes the mound for the Sox…Would be nice if he could do it again, cause allowing the other team NO runs is the only way it seems the Sox can win…Jess Litsch gets the nod for Toronto. 1st pitch is 7:07pm

Thanks Christine: now I’m gonna have that song stuck in my head the rest of the night! Last night sucked grande, but tonight WILL be different. Wonder if a guy can throw a no hitter twice in one year? 😉

Christine? You here? Just checking on you to make sure you’re OK: you’re not near any 5th floor windows are you? 😉

We WILL be OK. Still in first, and unless they tell me otherwise, that’s what I’m holding onto.

Keep the Fair: 2004 should show you to NOT count this team out.

Hope you are well, and we’ll get ’em tomorrow.
