Although it should have absolutely been at least 3 out of 4–if not a complete sweep. But, thanks again to the machinations of Eric Gagne and Julio Lugo (aka Julio the Useless), the Sox lost the nightcap of the doubleheader on Friday…
Buy Clay Buchholtz did very well on Friday, getting his 1st major league win [...]

164 strikeouts in 117 innings, 8-3 with a 2.15 ERA in 21 starts, 23 years old, compensation pick for Pedro Martinez signing with the Mets….From his former coach in the minors, Portland’s Mike Cather: “You’re talking about a guy that’s got a plus major league fastball, an average to plus major league two-seam, a plus [...]

I had a feeling this would happen…When I looked at the records of the starters: Daisuke with a 13-8 and Andy Sonnanstine with a 1-8 record, I said to myself “I really hope the reverse lock doesn’t come into play here..” Guess what–its DID…
What IS IT about the Red Sox and rookie pitchers? I saw [...]

Red Sox Nation has been been waiting for months (since Mother’s Day!) for a walk off, clutch win, and it could not have come at a better time. Not only did the Sox win on the night that Jon Lester made his triumphant return to the Fens, but they did it on a night that [...]

Do you ever notice that there are times when starters seem to go longer into games, after the bullpen has blown a lead or two? It’s almost as if they (the starter) knows the teams needs the win, so they do everything in their power to get them there? Take last night’s game for example–Tim [...]

Last year, I was on vacation when the Skanks swept the Sox in that 5 game massacre that pretty much did them in–this year, I go to the shore for 3 days, and the Sox drop 2 of 3 to the Oreos–THE OREOS….while the Skanks sweep Cleveland..So now there are four, count ‘em FOUR games [...]

The last middle of the night game of the 2007 campaign for the Sox really lived up to its name–for those of you who sat and watched this whole painful mess–I salute you–I could not–when I finally went to bed at 12:40ish they were only in the 6th inning–and a Slooooooow 6 innings it was [...]

Why is it that when the Sox are 5 games back from the Skanks it seems insurmountable, and now the shoe is on the other foot, and the Sox are 5 games ahead, and it feels like the lead is NOTHING?
Probably because if the Sox don’t do SOMETHING better than play .500 ball for the rest [...]

Sounding like a broken record: Curt Schilling certainly pitched well enough to get the win, going 6 2/3, throwing 83 pitches, and giving up the 4 runs on 9 hits while walking none (has never walked a batter in Anaheim–ever) and striking out 5 –too bad the offense squandered ANY chance of winning this game–from [...]

Holy Buckets! After losing 9 (yes, NINE) games at Safeco Field dating back to last year, the Sox manage to take 2 of 3 to win this series…which is a great thing for many reasons:
The Skanks are winning again (last 6 out of 7), and the 10 games lead is now back to 7…
The Mariners [...]
