    Red Sox 3, Skankees 5:
What a CRAPPY way to start a series…

Posted by Christine E. at 2:56 pm in Baseball,Random Thoughts,Red Sox Comments (2)

I KNOW the Skankee win last night means very little in the grand scheme of things…There has been many (far TOO many) years the Sox have been at this point (7-8 games behind at the end of August) and we knew it was all over, that there was no way the Sox were going to overcome a 7-8 game obstacle with 30 games to play–I KNOW all that

I also know that if there was a game we were going to lose, it was going to be this one–Andy Petttittte has always been a thorn in the Sox side, Daisuke gets no run support (in his 11 loses this year, less than 25 runs, over ALL of them…) and unfortunately, Daisuke always seems to give up more runs than the Sox get hits, including 2 homers last night…both of them to the crappiest Skankees of them all–Jeter and Skeezy Bastard–the only two he missed was A-Fraud and Giambo (who did not play) –then he would have had the freaking Trifecta…(and yes, I know Trifecta means 3…)

Yeah, Daisuke kinda sucked (as we talked about above) going 6 1/3, allowing 5 runs on 6 hits, while walking 3 and striking out 2…This was his 4th loss in 5 games…I just keep telling myself: “15-16 wins will be a success for this year…” BUT, he is in line to pitch against them again at Fenway…could we get someone else?

And what about the achy back thing? 1st Manny comes out in the bottom of the 7th ’cause his back is spasming (is that a word?), and Bobby Keitly goes in–1/2 inning later, HE comes up lame, with lower back pain…What is UP with that? Would have much rather had seen HIS bat come up in the next inning, that Eric Hinske (who struck out) since he has been on fire lately….CRAP….

Can I just say that JD Drew is USELESS? Comes up with 2 men on in last night’s game, with a chance to tie, if not take the lead. And what does he do? Strikes out… Overall, he went 0-4 with 2 strikeouts in last night’s contest…Freaking wonderful…THIS is what the Sox are paying $17 million a year for???

Doesn’t it feel like they have won MORE? But, right now at 13 games played, the Sox are 7-6 in the season series–the last time they won a series against the Skanks it was 2004 11-8…There are 18 games so the Sox need to win 2 more to tie, and 3 more to win… They took 5 out of 6 in April, but only 2 out of 6 in May and June…I guess it doesn’t really matter, all in all, but it would be nice….

Looks like Doug Mirabelli is on the mend, and will be activated when he is eligible to come off the DL on Sunday September 2…

Tonight: A hell of a match up–Josh Beckett, going for a league leading 17 wins  against The Mercenary himself, the mediocre (5-5, .434 ERA) Roger Clemens. 1st pitch 7:05pm. I say someone will get beaned in the 3rd inning…if not sooner…

And because I totally missed the boat on Posts 300 and 325, just wanted to mention that this is post 330 for me…NEVER thought I would actually ever write that much–in a little more than a year…WOW…

     Go Sox!

Yeah, it sucked Christine, but hey, it’s still 7 games in front. Speaking of Manny, they said on the pre game he may be out 10 games. Thank God for the cushion.

Yankees just scored, and it’s 1-0 Yankees in the bottom of the 2nd. 🙁

[…] and that crappin homer to A-Fraud (I know, that one is my fault for mentioning him and homers yesterday) Josh Beckett was not that […]
