Red Sox 11, White Sox 1:
    And the sweep is complete!

Posted by Christine E. at 11:35 am in Baseball,Random Thoughts,Red Sox Comment (1)

When the Sox went into Chicago, they had a 5 game lead in the division–By the end of the weekend, the lead had swelled to 7.5, and could be 8 by the end of today, provided the Skanks lose again to Detroit, if not, it’s 7 games–what a most excellent way to begin a 3 game series against the Skanks in NY. My feeling is, now the pressure is on THEM to win, rather than the Sox…

I think we can all agree that Bobby Kielty was an excellent choice for the Sox: 4 RBI’s on Saturday, a homer in Sunday’s game, and spelling Manny in left…

What I don’t understand is how Tito can justify giving Manny 2 days off in the same week, while others play day in and day out…and I understand Manny’s back is bothering him, but everyone is hurt and tired, it’s AUGUST….

Wasn’t sure we would actually see it again, and if I hadn’t been watching the game when it happened, I am not sure I would have believed it, but JD Drew hit homer #7 off Javier Vasquez yesterday, after going 51 games (166 at-bats) without a homer–So, if you factor in the ridiculous amount of money the Sox are paying him ($17 million) and divide it into how many homers he has (7), the Sox are paying him $2.42 million per long ball. And while that is disturbing, even more so is the fact that his slugging percentage is more than 200 HUNDRED points lower that it was last year….freaking wonderful…

And what about Julian Tavarez kicking some major White Sox butt yesterday? Going 6 strong, and only allowing 2 hits, which included a solo shot to Jermaine Dye, which was the only run the Pale Hose got in the contest. He also walked 3 and struck out 7, which ties his season high. From Tito: “…There are not many guys who can sit in the bullpen for a long time, then give you a chance for six innings. I’m proud of him. He should be proud of himself.”

Poor loser: And of course, it would not be a White Sox series without some remark from Ozzie, “I just can’t keep my mouth shut” Guillen: “They swept us this time,” he said. “I swept them in the big one (White Sox’ three-game sweep of the Red Sox in the 2005 Division Series on their way to winning the World Series.) That’s when it counts.” Its interesting to note his use of pronouns–HE won the division series–Oh REAL-ly? He just cannot help himself…

An off-day today (I hate off-days, especially since there is currently momentum and all that) then 3 against the Skanks–Yuk, Yuk, Yuk, thankfully I will have MLB Radio to listen to so I don’t have to actually SEE them…. 1st pitch 7:05pm, thrown by Roger Clemens life partner, Andy Pettitte. Daisuke takes the mound for the Sox…

    1. Ted D says:

8 games Christine: 8 freaking games on 8-27-07. Hopefully 11 by the end of the week: I’ve never felt as good about this team, not even in ’04. Theo has done a great job putting this group together.

And while I always want to see Manny in the lineup, if I’m not mistaken, he’s played the most games of any position player we have, including both games of the day/night Friday.

A healthy and happy Manny is a productive Manny, and you can’t argue with what he’s done since the All Star Break. I catch myself questioning Tito at times, then realize that I’m some schlub and he’s managed a World Series winner. It’s at that point I come to the realization that maybe he knows more than I give him credit for. Besides, we didn’t need him anyway.

I’d much rather have him for the next 3 games: I want bloodshed, havoc, and the MFY’s fighting in the dugout the next 3 games.

This is it: last August doing a .180: we put them out of thier misery over the next 3 days.

      I. Can’t. Wait.
