Last year, I was on vacation when the Skanks swept the Sox in that 5 game massacre that pretty much did them in–this year, I go to the shore for 3 days, and the Sox drop 2 of 3 to the Oreos–THE OREOS….while the Skanks sweep Cleveland..So now there are four, count ’em FOUR games that separate the Sox from the Skanks for the lead in the AL East…CRAP…
What the HELL is going to happen when I leave for my honeymoon on September 1–for 7 days? ohhhh boy…..Although by then, we will have played the 1st 3 of the final 6 against the Skanks–so it may not matter at that point….
And even tho Schilling didn’t strike anyone out for the 2nd time this year (and the 4th time in his career) he had a very good line: 6 IP, giving up 5 hits (all singles) and 1 (unearned) run, walked and struck out none, while throwing 92 pitches, 70 for strikes…
And I think we all know who is directly responsible for BOTH of those unnecessary losses–the Sox latest acquisition–the pitcher the Front Office just HAD TO HAVE instead of a bat…Eric Gagne-yeah, GAG-ME….what is his ERA now? 15-16+? Beauteous…..he comes in with a 3-1 lead yesterday, and just like Friday, AGAIN he blows it–his line with the Sox since he has been here? Glad you asked: 4 innings, giving up 7 runs on 10 hits, while waking 4 and striking out 5…Mr Yuk for you!
From Gagne, in his best impersonation on Brendan Donnelly: “This is getting &*($@#*&# ridiculous, this has got to &*^&*^&*^ stop…We should have won three out of three games here, and I blew two of them. It’s a bunch of everything, it’s a bunch of &*(#&@*&. I’m not doing my job. I’m letting everyone here down.”
Only one response here: Do YA THINK, Eric???? But I guess its not surprising from someone who expected a team to pay a minimum of $4 million for his services in the off-season SIGHT UNSEEN…
Beating the dead horse blind: And why is it that every time I see that the Sox have errors–I know who did it? and 99% of the time, I am right–Holy Buckets! Lugo is useless!
Offensive help perhaps? Could Bobby Kielty and Jacoby Ellsbury be back in the bigs soon? Both of them are ripping the cover off the ball.–Kielty has hit 5 of 16 (including a double and a homer) in his last 4 games, after going 0 for 6 with five strikeouts in his 1st 2 games for Pawtucket. And since coming off the DL, speedster Ellsbury has a batter average of .459 (17 out of 37). Honestly, could either one of them do any worse than Wily Mo?
Coming up: There’s no place like home: Tim Wakefield throws 1st pitch at 7:05 this evening to kick off a 7-game home stand–3 against Tampa Bay, and 4 against the Angels (including a doubleheader on Friday…)James Sheilds takes the mound for Tampa Bay..Do I even need to say what needs to happen? No Gagne, and a sweep!
