    Red Sox 3, Oreos 5:
    Not what was needed…

Posted by Christine E. at 11:33 am in Baseball,Random Thoughts,Red Sox Comments (3)

I know the Nation is all a twitter with the whole Eric Gagne deal–and I will concede he IS a good relief man–and at one time he was one of the best–but does he make the best bullpen in the majors BETTER? Not so much…

Not when he is added to the bullpen who has pitched the 3rd least amount of innings, because the starters go deep into game..

Not when he is added to a team that needs a HITTER, cause there is no reason the Sox should be losing the games they are losing…

Prime example was last night, which is the type of game that is indicative of the whole 2007 campaign for the Sox–good to decent pitching, with Josh Beckett going 8 and giving up 5 runs on 9 hits while walking 2 and striking out 6…He threw 110 pitches, 76 for strikes–this is the 1st time this year Beckett has lost 2 in a row…

The Sox could only come up with 3 runs, all of which were scored by Big Papi…How can Eric Gagne help with that? You’re right, he can’t…

Funny Ha Ha, Part 1 : The Skanks tied the record for most homers in a game with 8 in their 16-3 annihilation of the White Sox last night….just about everyone on the starting 9 got a homer–except the man who is teetering on 500 with 499–A-Fraud–HE went 0 for 5…

Funny Ha Ha, Part 2: Mariano Rivera went on the RADIO and begged the Skanks to get some bullpen help–and what does the Skanks do? Get rid of Scott Proctor–for an infielder….

I knew it was more than a strain: It was announced yesterday that Brendan Donnelly will undergo Tommy John surgery within the next week…From Brendan, remarkably expletive free: “By doing the surgery now, it gives me an opportunity to pitch next year and, you know, four, five years down the line. As opposed to just keeping fighting through, day by day, wondering when the day’s going to come that it’s just (not going to work).”

In his 3rd appearance for Pawtucket, Curt Schilling was once again brilliant, going 7 scoreless inning against Columbus, giving up 4 hits, walking 0 and striking out 4…. On normal rest, it looks like we will be seeing Curt back in the bigs when the Sox face Seattle on Sunday..and he is chomping at the bit: “I want to be in Boston…”I answered every question I can answer. I’m healthy. I feel good. I feel strong and I’m ready to go back there and help them win games.”

Joel Pineiro, who accepted the demotion to Pawtucket in hopes he could become more marketable as a starter, was traded to the Cardinals for cash and a player to be named later…Joel was 1-1 in 31 appearances with a 5.03 ERA in his time with the Sox…He career record was 59-56 with a 4.50 ERA…

Coming up: Julian Tavarez will return to the starting rotation, probably only for this game, replacing Kason Gabbard who was traded to Texas in the Gagne deal (and yet another reason this was not the best deal going…) 1st pitch in the Fens, 7:05pm. The cookies will counter with former Met Steve Trachsel…

Christine, I joke about this with you, but I always check your blog first to see if you have a new post: if you do, I know I don’t have to go to boston.com to get my news. Great Job!

Tough loss, and I think they’ll bounce back against Trachsel tonight.

Thanks again for the link to your wedding: looked like a great time, and I’m really happy for you and your new husband.

      Go Sox!

      Ted

      Evening Ted,

Thanks so much for your comments–I don’t think there is a higher compliment…:-)

The Sox are up by 1, but it seems like its a struggle to score runs–as well as prevent them from scoring this evening!

I’m telling you, we need a bat!

      Hope you are well!

      Go Sox!

It has been strangely open-handed of you to make without restraint what exactly a number of us
would have sold as an electronic book in order to make some
bucks for themselves, primarily considering that you could possibly have
done it if you ever considered necessary. The suggestions in
addition acted to be a great way to recognize that other people have the identical
interest really like my personal own to see very much more in terms of this issue.

I think there are many more pleasant situations in the future for those who read through your blog post.
