    Red Sox 1, Rangers 2:
Far too many little black dots…

Posted by Christine E. at 11:41 am in Baseball,Random Thoughts,Red Sox Comment (1)

…on my calendar…out of 27 games in June, the Sox have a losing record 14-13..far cry from the better records of the 1st 2 months of the year (April : 16-10 and May: 19-8) I guess we could say the Sox are officially swooning? Only thing that is saving their bacon right now is the fact that they built up such a lead and the Skanks and Toronto are still playing horribly, they have managed to hold onto that 10 game lead in the AL East. But today, based on the play as of late, the Sox would get bounced out of the playoffs–1st round…

And its through no fault of their pitching–which still boasts one of the lowest ERA’s in baseball–and Batsh*t Julian went out there and pitched another gem: 5 2/3 of 2 run ball (only 1 earned as a result of 2 errors in 1 inning by Alex Cora) while giving up 7 hits, walking 3 and striking out 2. But, apparently, a no hitter is the only thing that is going to get a win these days, unless this anemic offense gets a move on–and quick…

The Sox have 7 games before the all-star break (4 of them at home) –hopefully they will get the bats in gear and win the majority of them, and end the 1st 1/2 on a strong note….

Until then, I just don’t want to talk about this anymore….

And still he goes: despite the fact that he was not voted in by the unwashed masses, Manny Ramirez was elected to the All-Star game–but his peers. And rumor has it, he may actually go this year. Also selected were Big Papi (by the fan vote) Mike Lowell, Jonathan Papelbon, and Josh Beckett. Hideki Okajima is on the 32nd man–vote him in today!

Coming Up: Walking Man Kason Gabbard takes the mound (and gives up less walks–hopefully) to round out the 4 game series against the Rangers. 1st pitch 7:05pm. Brandon McCarthy pitches for the Rangers…

I’m with you Christine: thank heavens for the early run. Of course, every team goes through stretches like this over the course of a season, so I try not to get worked up about it. That’s easier to do with a double digit lead. :)

And for all the bad habits Manny has, his peers voting him in tells you all you need to know. When it comes to the game of baseball, particulary hitting, not many have ever been as good as #24.

As for Gabbard, I think he rebounds nicely tonight, and we split the series.

Hope the wedding plans for A WEEK FROM THIS FRIDAY are going swimmingly!
