    Red Sox 4, Padres 2:
    Pitching Duel accepted–and Won…

Posted by Christine E. at 11:40 am in Baseball,Random Thoughts,Red Sox Comments (6)

I have to admit, as great as Josh has been this year, I was a bit apprehensive that the bats may not show up against Jake Peavey, with his sub 2 ERA and all. But fortunately, Josh was Josh, going 8 innings and only giving up 2 runs on 8 hits, while striking out 8 and walking 1…

Beckett’s 11th win leads the major and its looking more and more like we’ll be seeing a Red Sox starter on July 10th in San Fran…whoo hoo!

So, the Sox have decided that Kason Gabbard, not Jon Lester will be getting Curt Schillings starts while he is on the DL. The reason being that its not a long-term thing–and they want Lester to be a long-term thing–Whatever… But why on earth do they think that the fact that they called him to explain is going to make that crappy decision easier to swallow??? I think this is the perfect time to bring him up–cause I am not not super confident that Curt is going to be all better when July 4th rolls around. I think he is going to be out longer than that…just a feeling…

Now that interleague play is over, we can stop listening to Francona bitch about how he cannot field the team he wanted to…and while the Sox did not far as spectacularly as they did last season (16-2) they did a bit better than my prediction of 11-7. The Red Sox finished 2007 interleague play a fairly respectable 12-6…

And with July comes the mid-season trade deadline, complete with all the rumors that follow–Today’s rumor is Mark Buehrle possibly to the Sox….ho hum….

And By the by..Mercenary Roger came out of the bullpen for the Skanks in yesterdays 6-2 loss to the Giants. And that would now make it 11.5 games behind the Sox, which places them now in THIRD place, a 1/2 game behind Toronto…hahahahahahahahahaha hahahahahahahahahaha…Think you backed the wrong horse now, Roger?

Tonight: Batsh*t Julian takes the mound in Seattle in the middle of the night against Jeff “I-can’t-really-pitch-effectively-for-any-team-that- actually-has-a-chance-of-contending” Weaver, as evidenced by his stellar 1-6 record and 8.56 ERA… he throws his 1st pitch at 10:05pm…UGH…

Tavarez is a little…intimidating.. but man can he pitch when he wants to. I hope he pitches like he’s starting and not like he’s relieving tonight.

I hate these late games; not knowing if they won until the next morning is really cruel!

I’m with you there..I usually fall asleep by the 6th inning and then I wake up in the morning and have to go to my computer to see what happened…;-)

      Hope you are well!

      Go Sox!
