Red Sox 10, San Fran 2:
    Julian Tavarez..Stopper??

Posted by Christine E. at 10:17 pm in Baseball,Random Thoughts,Red Sox Comments (2)

No one wants to have Jon Lester back more than me–I love to watch the kid pitch–his stuff is electric–and knowing that he overcame CANCER to come back and be a major league pitcher is something astound and noteworthy…

BUT, can you find a another pitcher with as much heart as Julian Tavarez? Yeah, he is batsh*t, no, he isn’t the great pitcher to ever put on a Red Sox uniform, but I am not sure you will ever find another man who cares more about going out there and picking up his team when they needed a win…and did they need a WIN!

And what about that LINE! 7IP (his longest outing of the season) 6 hits, 2 runs, 2 walks and 3 strikeouts–he threw 103 pitches, 58 for strikes..

And doesn’t it always seem like he faces the ace of whatever team the Sox are playing? But the cool thing is–Barry Zito didn’t get out of the 6th inning…

And WHAT was that rolling the ball to 1st base in the 5th inning? Julian explains: “The first thing came to my head is just roll the ball to first base…I know if I roll the ball straight to Youkilis he was going to catch the ball. And it was a big out. Out three. Get me out of trouble.”

Apparently, he meant to do that…

So with the Skankee loss last night, and then their win and the brilliant 1-0 Sox win today (Okajima has balls of steel–but that is a post for another day…) keeps them a nice and wonderful 8.5 games behind the Sox–I would rather 58.5 games–but I’ll take what I can get…

Tomorrow: Wake takes the mound at 2:05pm to go for the sweep, as well as close out this home stand..A win tomorrow will give the Sox a 3-3 record for the 6 games played at the Fens…Matt Morris pitches for San Fran…

Christine, sorry I missed this yesterday: busy day. Great win for Tavarez and Daisuke had a whale of a game yesterday. Was at my in laws, came home we were winning 7-3, now it’s 8-3. They are on their way to making my Father’s Day wish come true: SWEEP.

      Hope you are well.
