    Red Sox 4, Oakland 5–in 11 innings:
    Extra Innings suck…

Posted by Christine E. at 6:06 pm in Baseball,Random Thoughts,Red Sox Comment (1)

…Especially when it’s a game that starts at 10:05pm–and you are the visiting team who played the Skankees the night before until after midnight and then had to get on a plane and fly across the whole country, only to land around the ass-crack of dawn and try to get some sleep, even though your body is all horribly jetlagged…

Remind me, do these ever end well??

And Batsh*t Julian, once again, did what a 5th starter is supposed to do–keep the Sox in the game–and he did, going 6 2/3, throwing 107 pitches, and only giving up 3 runs on 9 hits, while walking 2…

And I don’t blame Kyle (and his 2.25 ERA) for the loss of this game in the 11th inning, I blame Joel Pineiro (and his 5+ ERA) for the run he gave up in the 8th..I’m telling you, he is the Rudy Seanez of the 2007 Red Sox, and needs to go away NOW…

I see the Skanks LOST to the Pale Hose last night….tehehehe…seems that order is being restored to the universe…..unfortunately, since the Sox lost, they don’t get to make up that game they got from them during the weekend series…

Some good news: Last night’s (or this morning’s, depending on how you look at it…)loss was only the 3rd time this season the Sox have lost 2 in a row–they have yet to lose 3 in a row…

HOWEVER, in the last 5 games? ONE win…UGH…..

BUT, I read something ASTOUNDING today: That the Sox could possibly CLINCH the AL East in about 3 weeks….provided they don’t start playing like utter CRAP–Holy Buckets! How cool would THAT be???

Double Hardware for the young ‘un: Not only is Dustin Pedroia the AL Rookie of the Month for May, he was also the AL Player of the Week for the week ending June 2…His .415 batting average, .600 slugging percentage, and 13 games hitting streak may have had something to do with it…Says Tito: “I don’t think you push a button. I think it’s a process of a lot of hard work…When he was struggling, he didn’t put his head down, he’s got that fighter mentality…”

How is THIS for a 5th starter?: Jon Lester kicked some ass and took some names in his latest start for Pawtucket, throwing a complete 7 inning game with an economical 87 pitches, striking out 1 and walking one but only allowing 4 hits and 1 run, which was a leadoff homer in the 6th inning. He currently has a 1.26 ERA over six starts (28 2/3 innings) with Pawtucket. Can he come home soon? Please?

And Mike Timlin FINALLY seems to be turning the corner–he started the 2nd game of the doubleheader, going 2 innings and throwing only 21 pitches. He also did not not allow any runs. He is tentatively scheduled to pitch again today for Pawtucket, and, if all goes well, will be reactivated fro this weekend’s series against Arizona…

Coming up: Daisuke gets the feel for the Left Coast lateness when he pitches in the 2nd game of this 4 game series. 1st pitch is 10:05, thrown by someone you might remember: Lenny DiNardo–yep, the same Lenny DiNardo was sacrificed to the waiver gods during spring training because the Sox needed to get JD Drew on the roster…

    1. Ted D says:

Christine: the end sucked eggs, but the game was fun to watch. Would have been more fun if it would have been on at a decent hour: I HATE west coast swings.

I’ve seen DiNardo pitch live twice while with Boston, and I’ll always wish him well. Except for tonight: I hope we light him up like the 4th of July.

Little more than a week away from the big day: hope everything is running smooth.

Best wishes and all that, and I hope you are doing great.
