    Red Sox 3, Skankees 8:
    I Don’t Know What’s Worse…

Posted by Christine E. at 11:45 am in Baseball,Random Thoughts,Red Sox Comments (3)

The fact that the Sox actually LOST to that piece of crap team, or the fact that now they have an off-day, and everyone in the ‘Nation gets to stew about it until 8:05pm tomorrow, when the Sox play one of the few teams who actually beat them in a series this year–the Rangers…CRAP!

As a great man once said “great pitching wins games” and last night Curt Schilling did not have great pitching: He’ll even say that himself: “Inconsistent on counts and pitches…Consistently inconsistent. Andy throwing the way he’s throwing, the last thing you want to do is put your team in the hole, force them to be aggressive…We were never in this game because I couldn’t execute.”

So now there is 9.5 games between the Sox and the Skanks–to me 200 would not be enough…

And can I just say, AGAIN, that Julio…Lugo…needs…to…go…NOW…? ANOTHER error, a strikeout in the 9th, the list goes on and on…

At least SOMETHING is going right: Josh Beckett threw his 5 simulated inning yesterday without any problems–another side session will happen this weekend, and then if all goes well, he will get the start vs Cleveland next Tuesday. And Mike Timlin is FINALLY on the mend, doing some throwing and will be heading to Pawtucket for a rehab assignment tomorrow…

As I mentioned before–the Rangers also beat the Sox in a series–and there has been 3 total, the 1st was the Rangers April 6-8, the 2nd was Toronto on April 23-24 and the 3rd was this Skankee series….UGH…

Remember how Carl Pavano chose to go the Skanks, despite the fact the Sox offered him more money, because he girlfriend and family were Skankee fans? Can we get some names and addresses for them? I would like to send a fruit basket or 2…as Pavano got paid $39.5 million dollars for 19 starts for the Skanks–or $2 million+ a start–and better yet, he only won FOUR of those starts–for a total of $9.875 million a WIN…who does he think he is–Roger Clemens?

Speaking of Mercenary Roger: TONS of people are chiming in about how unfair they think he preferential treatment is–how he gets to go home between starts, and does not have to travel with the team–the latest being baseball icon and Hall of Famer Frank Robinson… “I think it’s wrong because if you sign a contract to play baseball and you are given a clause like that, I just don’t think it’s fair to your teammates…”

Friday night: Deep in the heart of Texas, Daisuke will take the mound to try to get the Sox back on track. If his last couple starts are any indication, we should be in good shape. Brandon McCarthy will toe the mound for the Rangers at 8:05pm.

Hi Christine: the only silver lining I can take out of dropping 2 of 3 is that Youk, Lowell, and Tek keep hitting well, and it looks like Manny may be slowly coming alive.

Schilling looked rough last night: hopefully he’s not hurt.

And even though they beat us earlier, I’d much rather be facing the Rangers than the Angels. Here’s to a 3 game sweep in Arlington.

      Take care,

      Ted

Christine, I don’t know what happened, but I commented earlier. Weird. Anyway, Schilling has me “concerned”. I’m not worried yet, but I am getting a little antsy.

Very glad Boston goes to Texas while the Yankees have to deal with the Angels. Hopefully we can be back to a double digit lead by Sunday night.

      Hope everything is going well.

      Ted

Yeah, what was up with Schilling? Not his best stuff, far from it. At least that series is over and we can get back to normal.

      Enjoy the holiday!
