    Red Sox 8, Toronto 0:
Oh, how far they have fallen…

Posted by Christine E. at 11:46 am in Baseball,Random Thoughts,Red Sox Comment (1)

It seems the role of the mortally wounded 06 Sox will be played by the Blue Jays in the 07 campaign–but I’ll take it! Tim Wakefield was BRILLIANT, and continued his scoreless streak to 16+–SIXTEEN! innings with a gem of a game last night. Hell, he could have stayed in to complete the game, as he threw only 93 pitches in his 7 innings, but Tito needed to get the bullpen some work. Wake kept the flailing birds to 3 hits over 7 while walking 1 and striking out 5. And he ERA this morning? I am glad you asked: 1.79–Yes, like a dollar seventy-nine…and it also happens to be the best ERA in the AL…

Out of a 6 game road trip, the Sox won 5–and return to the Fens with some great momentum for 10…

As if we needed another reason to love Mike Lowell: Keeping his amazing dominance against the Blue Jay alive with a 3 run homer in last nights game–and his 3rd home in the last 3 games–How much satisfaction do you think he gets when he remembers how people thought he was just the Marlins castoff a couple of years ago, the man the Sox had to take to get Josh Beckett…Actually, he is a classy guy, so he probably isn’t super bitter about it–but just grateful he can help his team win…

For those of you who are into the minor league aspect of the Sox (or any other team for that matter) Top Prospect Alert can help you out with rankings (updated several times throughout the year) or stats (updated daily) Check them out!

And yes, that makes it 10-0 when Alex Cora starts–who also went 2-4 to raise his average to 4.59…

File this under the ROTFLMAO category: “I have no idea. That was so long ago” say A-Fraud in response to the question on how he was defeated in a rundown by Gerald Laird, allowing him to score in the 5th inning. Oh, and Laird also kicked him in the face as he dove for home in the botched play. Ok…they asked him after the game, which was probably less than 2 hours after the fact–he is SUCH an idiot….But its pretty funny to note that the Rangers LIT UP Skankee Ace Chien-Ming Wang, he of the wonderful 1-3 record for the 07 campaign….did I mention he also gave up Victor Diaz’s 1st career grand slam? and that they lost 14-2? hahahahahahahahahahahahaha….. that would not be 7 games behind…

So, my fiance’ and I went to the Scranton Wilkes-Barre Skankees vs Pawtucket game last night–and it was rained out–but not before we spent $25 on junk food and stood around for over an hour and watched horrible MTV videos from the 80 on the jumbo-tron–But they did play Jeter’s favorite song: “Its Raining Men” Some highlights:

A 80 year old woman with no teeth, but with copious amounts of blue eyes shadow, bright red blush, jeans with glitter and sequins on them and rhinestones sprinkled throughout her hair (I kid you not…)

A Yankee fan we were talking with, (quite civilly actually) who, in the middle of our conversation says ” Don’t mind the T-shirt” Of course it’s one of those “got rings?” shirts–who SAYS crap like that? That would be like Pamela Anderson saying “Don’t mind my breasts” We KNOW they are there, did you really mean to bring it up?

Another Skankee fan we were talking with says to us: “Except for that one time you beat us, the Yankees are always in the postseason” This was in comment to his question to us if we thought the Skanks and the Sox would end up in the postseason… I love how they describe the biggest choke in Sports history as the 1 time the Sox beat the Skanks…

A family of 4: A normal looking, mid 60’s mother and father–a normal looking late 20’s/early 30’s son with a Red Sox hat on, and another son the same age with dress pants, a dress shirt with 1/2 lb gold cufflinks and 2 gold rings…to a baseball game..

Overall, people were fairly pleasant–and there were quite a few Sox fans there–and we were loud and proud in our Sox garb…so we wait to see when the make-up game is…

Tonight: Batsh*t Julian Tavarez, takes the mound tonight at 7″05pm to open the Fenway home stand as the Sox play 3 with the Oreos. The cookies counter with Brian Burres

Sorry the game got rained out Christine: nothing like those Yankee fans, huh? Wake was great again last night, and I’m looking for a sweep this weekend: the bats are just too hot right now, plus, like you said, the O’s have NO pitching.

Hope your weekend is great and go Sox.
