    Red Sox 7, Skankees 4:
    OK, I lied….

Posted by Christine E. at 11:26 am in Baseball,Random Thoughts,Red Sox Comment (1)

…when I said I would be perfectly OK with the Sox taking 2 of 3 from the Skanks. It should have been a sweep. I wanted a sweep, and I know that probably everyone in the Nation wanted a sweep too…But, alas, there was not sweep, so we have to be happy with 2 out of 3 and 5 out of the last 6. And since we “only” play 18 games against them (as opposed to the 19 we have in recent years) we only need to win 5 of the next 12 games to win the season series against them.. The next time we meet in is about 3 weeks, so hopefully they will still be reelin’ from the feelin’…

And has anyone mentioned lately thank the Skanks are in LAST PLACE??? The bottom, The end, Below Tampa Bay, 6.5 games behind the Sox???

How ’bout THIS for kissass? Jeter is STILL calling Joe Torre, “Mr. Torre”? WTF? I REALLY cannot STAND him…If I had to pick one player I hate most…it would be Jeter…UGH…

And how ’bout the fact that the team closest to the Sox in the standings is Toronto (whom we should not have lost those 2 games to last week…)is FOUR Games behind–which is a Sox record–they have never been in 1st place 4 games ahead..a few times 3 games ahead (last time in 2004–and before that? Yep: 1918…) but 4 games ahead? How about NEVER?

And can I just say how much I am LOVING Alex Cora? I have always liked him–he’s a great player, and a good citizen, but he is presenting a VERY compelling argument that he should play every day, especially since Dustin Pedroia is struggling, batting .192…and did I mention that the Sox are 6-0 in his starts and that he batting .360 when he plays?

Lester soon? If all goes well in his final start for Pawtucket on Wednesday, there is a VERY good possibility we will see Jon Lester start during the Rangers Series May 8-10. The only thing that would stop him at this point is is the Sox would like him to make a couple more starts at the AAA level, just to make sure he is totally ready.

Neat Bullpen Stuff: Until “Jeets'” homer in the 8th off Timlin yesterday, the Sox bullpen was working on 13 2/3 or scoreless pitching. Even with the homer, the bullpen is holding a 1.09 ERA (5ER in 41 innings) in the last 17 games. And yes, Papelbon is still perfect–in ERA and in April…

Coming up: Day off today (I hate days off…) Then Curt Schilling will get the start against the elephants Tuesday night. He will face Joe Blanton. 1st pitch: 7:05pm

Christine, I hate days off too: my wife treasures them like gold however as she gets my undivided attention!

Cora is playing tough at 2nd, and Tito has a real dilemma on when to play him/Pedroia.

And that Schilling/Blanton matchup has classic pitcher’s duel written all over it.

      Take care,

      Ted
