    Red Sox 5, Toronto 3:
    The Reverse Lock Strikes Again!

Posted by Christine E. at 11:32 am in Baseball,Random Thoughts,Red Sox Comment (1)

When the match up for yesterday was announced, there was a collective “Ugh” that ran though Red Sox Nation–I heard it….As I said to someone the other day, unless the reverse lock happens, there in no way Wacky Julian Tavarez is going to beat Toronto ace (and really good pitcher) Roy Halladay. NEVER…

Well, thanks to Alex Cora(!) and his game winning TRIPLE, the Sox will begin their 1st series in the 2007 campaign against the Skanks will some positive momentum.

And he not only helped the team with his bat, but also with his glove, when he executed a spectacular double play, despite receiving an off-line thrown from Timlin, and being run into by Toronto’s Lyle Overbay, who was trying to break up the double play.

Of course, in the 8th, Manny, hitting #471 and his 1st homer of the season, with a truly grand standing performance, helped bring the game to a 3-3 tie.

Coco Crisp actually got it done in yesterday’s game, dropping down TWO successful bunts against Toronto. Ya know the last time that happened? No? When Darren Lewis did it–in 1998. Says Tito: “He’s trying to make something happen, and he did…It was great. You look up in the box score, he’ll have a couple of hits and he’ll feel good about himself. He played a big part in our win…” and raised his average to .167…

How sucky is this? Since the All-Star game (yep, they are starting the whole voting nonsense thing ALREADY…) is in San Diego this year–that means no DH. So to get David Ortiz on the ballot–he needs to go as a 1st baseman–which lessens his chances to win, as keeps Youk off the ballot, as only 1 player per team, per position, is allowed.

Speaking of the All-Star game: So what body part will hurt, or which relative will take ill, that will require Manny to skip out again?

Have I mentioned how physically ill the Skanks make me? Only a million times? OK, then, let’s make it 1 more: “Every time the Sox played the Skanks, looking at those Skanky Yankees makes me physically ILL…Giambi? YUK, Jeter? Barf, A-Fraud? Ewwwww..and the list goes on and on and on….

Coming up: Curt toes the mound at Fenway at 7:05 to take on the Skanks..UGH…Andy”I have too many “T’s” in my name” Petttittte takes the mound for the Skanks–for the 1st time since 2003 ALCS…Oh, I really hope we take 2 of 3 against them…and can I mention how I probably will be watching the game with the sound off–and listening to it on MLB Radio?

It’s here, it’s here, it’s here: First Sox/Yankees clash of the season. Great post, and it was nice to see Coco play such a key role. He has been grinding here lately. And even though it’s in a NL park, no way they can play an All Star game without the big fella!

Here we go Red Sox, here we go.
