    Red Sox 9, Mets 5:
Do you think they could maybe play at a time other than 1:05PM?

Ya know….some of us need to work everyday, so we do not have the luxury of watching/listening to games that fall during the work day…so I miss another great game–one ending with a GRAND SLAM no less… and who the hell is Ed Rogers, by the way???

That would be 6 shutout and 7 strike outs: Between Tim Wakefield (3 innings, 4 hits, 3 strikeouts) and Jonathan Papelbon (3 innings,4 strikeouts) they fared well yesterday. How screwed up do you think hitters feel, going from dancing knuckleball to the pure nasty heat that Paplebon throws? His pitches must feel like they are 200 mph after a 78 mph knuckler…

Of course, it won’t go away…as much as Papelbon would like it to..the fact that he is doing such a fabulous job as a starter, and the bullpen, while pretty strong as far as individuals go, do not have their roles defined, nor are they anywhere close to doing so. It makes us all wish for last year, and the 0.92 ERA in the 59 games he pitched. But Jonathan has this message: “For the fans of Boston, the people back in Boston, and even my coaches and teammates, for right now it’s hard seeing me doing something different. I have to go out and prove to them I mean business in the role I’m in and that I’m going to give you everything I’ve got as a starter.” And ya know what? I can live with that. We need to find a closer elsewhere–and I really believe it will happen–maybe not today, or even tomorrow…But it will happen…”

During yesterdays game, Wake was also working on his curveball, hoping it can better complement the knuckler. I think it’s an important pitch for me to work in.

I’ve always had it. It’s just, when the knuckleball is working, why throw it? I’m getting outs, but I think it could be a very important pitch to my repertoire if I used it a little bit more. I got a lot of strikeouts with it last year.” Because you know there is going to be games when the knuckler is not working–or working too well…

Mike Timlin looks to be on the mend enough to make his Spring Training debut on Saturday against the Tigers. He threw 40 pitches on Wednesday. I really hope he is over that whole “I want to close” thing. Really. As far as middle relief, there is no one better, but when the game is on the line? Not anymore…

Role Reversal: After hitting the cover off the ball last year in Spring Training–he had a .434 average, Coco broke his finger, and was never the same since. (.264 average with 8 homers) This year, he is 1-11. Could this mean we will get the phenomenal Coco for the rest of the year?

Today: Kyle Snyder will open the game at home vs Toronto with Curt Schilling getting the start at the away game against the Twins–of course, BOTH are at 1:05 pm…

Christine, funny you talked about the start time: my wife had an emergency dentist appointment, and I “had” to come home to take care of the younguns: got to see the whole game, which is a rarity for me and day games!

Ed Rogers will remember that for the rest of his life. I don’t care that it was ST, he hit a walk off granny: that has got to feel awesome.

      Take care,

      Ted D

I just saw that a game will be on ESPN, but of course it’s on at 1. Living in Virginia makes Sox games a rarity, and I have no idea why ESPN would choose to air a 1:00 game, other than the fact that they suck. I can’t think of any other reason.

I think the fact that ESPN sucks is a very valid reason why they are televising a game–at 1:00pm Living in PA has its challenges as far as seeing games as well..I got Direct TV 4 years ago and have never looked back..:-)

Lucky you Kaylee and Ted, getting to see games during the day…:-)

      Thanks for your comments everyone!

      Go Sox!
