Tigers 4, Skankees 3: Series Tied 1-1 Mets 4, Dodgers 1: Mets Lead Series 2-0 Cardinals 2, Padres 0: Cardinals lead Series 2-0 Oakland 5, Twins 2: Oakland Leads Series 2-0
Well, the Twins could be eliminated as soon as today, with the Padres and the Dodgers on the block tomorrow… hopefully they will rise to the occasion and at least make it interesting…and the Twin reallyREALLY need to turn it around, cause I really don’t think that Oakland can beat the Skanks….
I have to apologize…I know my last couple posts have been ALOT of Skankee bashing, and I really have no desire to make the focus of my blog THEM, but since they are still in the postseason, and are SO DAMN EASY TO MAKE FUN of…the glee will continue…
Case in point: Even Blogger Devin Clancy of USAToday.com’s Sports Scope thinks the Jeter coverage is too much; Found during yesterday’s Tigers/Skanks glog:

ALDS Game 2: Tigers at Yankees
Game 2: Detroit Tigers vs. New York Yankees at Yankee Stadium. Tigers lead 4-3 in the top of the eighth. Yankees lead series 1-0.
3:35 ET: Zumaya is in. Like Verlander, he’s throwing 100 mph. First sighting of Derek Jeter’s parents on ESPN. Why don’t the cameras ever show any other player’s parents?
That is a good question–even when someone is doing something really fabulous, you never see their parents, but crap, all Jeter has to do is stand out in the field, and we get a bunch of shots of the Jeter’s and have to hear how Dad is a Doctor and Mom is a housewife… How pathetic is that? I actually KNOW this, and I freaking HATE Jeter! But every Skankees game I have ever seen has had at least 3-5 sightings, if not more…
A-Fraud 0-4 with 3 strikes outs…Total for series? 1 for 8 with 4 strike outs…and in the 1st inning? The bases are loaded and A-Fraud comes to the plate–what do you think? Yep? struck out! You gotta love this drama unfolding…I have something brewing for this…if I can get it to work..:-) And even King George is unhappy with A-Fraud: After yesterday’s loss, Skankee owner George Steinbrenner was asked about A-Fraud–and this was his response: “I didn’t like him that well.”
Pedro had his surgery yesterday, Dad and Arm are doing fine…estimated recovery time: June or July of 2007…He and Matt Clement should start a support group “Former Red Sox pitchers whose arms fell off, and the suckers who gave them far too much money…”
And I am DEEPLY bothered by THIS… For the last 3 years I have been a part of V-Day, a movement to stop violence against women and girls. And while I know and understand why a lot of abusive women stay with their batterers, it still saddens me–and I think the judge who agree to drop the assault and battery charges against Phillies Pitcher Brett Meyer at the request of the victim, his wife, Kim, is sending a horrible message, especially this month– Domestic Violence Awareness month. Unfortunately, I think part of the reason is the judge had stars in his eyes…which is unforgivable…
Through my experiences with V-Day, I have met women who have been abused in every way imaginable, and spoken with others who had a friend or loved one who had endured abuse. I know, for a fact, that EVERYONE knows someone whose life has been touched by violence. We all need to stand up and say NO MORE–and if enough of us do, things WILL change–and maybe judges like this will think twice before he lets a man like Brett Myers escape punishment. And hopefully, more women will find the strength to leave their abuser, rather than defend him…
This Afternoon: Oakland and Twins, 4:09pm: Go Twins!
Tonight: Tigers and Skanks, 8:09pm: Go Tigers!
