Red Sox 7, Blue Jays 1 Today, it’s all about Julian Tavarez…

Posted by Christine E. at 10:29 am in General No Comments

Throwing only the 2nd complete game the Sox have had this season (Wake had the other in April..) Julian Tavarez was nothing short of brilliant in his start (and finish) last night…His Line? I am glad you asked: 9IP, 7H, 1R/ER, 1BB/SO, throwing 99 pitches, 60 for strikes….He also had a complete game against the Cubs when he was with Colorado on September 5, 2000…

Something we don’t often think about: While I was watching his interview with Tina Cervasio (am I the only one who thinks her questions are lamer than sh*t??) I was struck by the fact that here is a man that CARES…. so much about winning and this team…and how difficult it must to stand and speak live to 30+ thousand people, not to mention millions around the world, in English, which is not your language of birth? He could have begged off, or spoken through an interpreter, but he wanted to go out there and express what this win meant to him…and that is heartwarming…

And that is why it SUCKS that the lead article today is not about Julian Tavarez, but about Manny Ramirez being a freakin BABY and demanding a trade–AGAIN…which leads to the speculation–AGAIN, that he could have played through this injury, but chose to sulk–AGAIN. He needs to go, and he needs to go NOW…I understand that he offers excellent protection for David Ortiz…but his crappy attitude is of no use…and he can’t help if he is sitting…AGAIN…

Apparently, Matt “where is my prozac?” Clement has shut it down for the season, ending it in the middle of a bullpen and taking his ball and going home…he needs to go too…

Finally, Mr. Coco Crisp Rocky Road (that is his full name, you know…), needs surgery again on the same finger he had surgically repaired at the beginning of the season…The team had to convince Coco not to finish out the season. The surgery will take place on Monday, and he should be ready by spring training…Hopefully, he will get the time he needs to heal completely, and he can actually become what he was advertised to be when we got him…

This morning we are 2.5 games ahead of Toronto in the standings–we need to win 1 more in this series of 4 to stay that way…Unless the reverse lock happens, it probaly won’t be today’s game…
