Red Sox 5, Skankees 4 And that is 3 of 4…

Posted by Christine E. at 12:33 pm in General Comments (3)

I know, I know, it means absolutely nothing in the grand scheme of things…But to RSN, it means a TON…to wit:

They did not clinch while we were in the house! They now have to go on the road, and celebrate in one of 2 baseball hotbeds–Toronto, or Tampa Bay…

Yeah, sure, they are TRUE fans: While all 4 of this weekends games were sold out long ago, 12,188 “fans” did not use their tickets Saturday night, and 21,581 (!!) didn’t use theirs Sunday afternoon..Apparently, unless they would see the Skanks clinch, it was not worth their time…Can anyone say “band wagoners”???

Can I just say how REVOLTING the national coverage on the games were??? FOX, ESPN and YES are all the same network–I KNOW IT….Julie says it best…

Here is the analysis with regard to Papi vs Jeter for the series; each played 3 games…
    Hits: Ortiz 3 Jeter 2
    Strikeouts: Ortiz 3 Jeter 2
    Walks: Ortiz 6 Jeter 0
    Errors: Ortiz 0 Jeter 1
    Doubles: Ortiz 2 Jeter 0
    HR: Ortiz 1 Jeter 0
Stolen Bases: Ortiz 0 Jeter 1
Runs Scored: Ortiz 2 Jeter 2
    RBI’s: Ortiz 1 Jeter 0
In 9 statistical categories, there was 1 tie (Runs scored) but in SIX OTHERS, Big Papi did better..hmmmmm….

Even as decimated as we are, we managed to win 3…and regain some dignity in the process….

And did you see that catch Coco made???

Hey mom! Can we keep him? Please?: Mark Loretta NEEDS to be resigned…I don’t care who else goes….this is one guy who continues to get it done, time and time again…from the 14 pitch at bat to work a walk…to always getting the key hit when we needed it (9th inning, game 2, Sac Fly) This is his line for the weekend: 5 Hits, 4 runs scored, 1 RBI, 1 Double, 2 BB, 2 SO, and a Sacrific fly… It seemed like every time there was something going on, he was right in the middle of it…

Yeah, sure, he is all about the team: In Jeter’s final at bat in last night’s game, he swung at a 3-and-0 pitch from Craig Hansen. Derek Jeter has not swung at a 3-0 pitch since 2002, a span of 115 times. Of course people will say he was just trying to get a hit to help his team–but wouldn’t a walk have helped his team as well? Of course a walk would not help his 25 games hitting streak….very interesting…

And Timlim did not even suck, which is always a change of pace…and how beneficial is it that we did not even have to see Daisy Mo all weekend…beautiful things, all…

12 left: the breakdown for the last 12 games of the season: 3 vs Minnesota, 4 vs Toronto, 2 vs Tampa Bay and 3 vs Baltimore, with 8 of them being played at Fenway–Only the Toronto series is away…THEN what the hell am I going to do for the next six months????

Tomorrow: Tim Wakefield (WAKE!!) vs. Matt Garza, 7:05pm–Will Big Papi hit #50?
