And this just keeps getting better and BETTER…

Posted by Christine E. at 6:33 pm in General No Comments

A little background: About 20 minutes from my house is the Lackawanna County Stadium, where the Scranton Wilkes-Barre Red Barons (Phillies AAA affiliate) live…It has been common knowledge around these parts for a number of years that the Phillies organization has not been happy here, for a variety of reasons. It was also common knowledge that this year would be the last year that the team resided in NEPA…They are moving to Allentown, beginning in 2008, but will play in Ottawa next year, while a new stadium is being constructed…You know life in bad when you’d rather play in Canada than here…

A bunch of teams to replace the Phillies have been bandied about all year, with the Mets or the Nationals farm team seeming to be the front runner–Until I opened the local newspaper this morning and saw THIS:

Bronx Bombers moving Triple-A team to Scranton/Wilkes-Barre from Columbus

I think I am going to be sick…

It appears someone in the Skankee camp confirmed that the Yankees expect to be playing baseball at Lackawanna County Stadium next year, having severed ties with the Columbus Clippers, their AAA affiliate since 1979. One of the biggest reasons is Scranton/Wilkes-Barre is only a 2 1/2-3 hour drive to New York City; Columbus is 7…

In typical Skankee entitlement fashion, even though negotiations cannot start until Saturday, and there are still 3 other major league teams who are searching for a home for their farm team, (New York Mets, Baltimore Orioles and Washington Nationals) the Yankees consider it a done deal.

If they do come here, they will no longer be the Clippers…Apparently, one of the demands the locals has is that New York keep the Red Barons as it’s nickname, a demand, the Yankees, (in a rare show of compromise)will agree to…

And of course, everyone here is all excited, as NEPA sinks even further into the pit of Skankee despair…UGH…How revolting…Where is my fork???
