    Red Sox 6, Indians 7 Cleveland, we’ve got a problem…

Posted by Christine E. at 12:34 pm in General No Comments

W…T…F??? What is it with Josh Beckett and the freaking homeruns??? And the topper on the cake last night was the grand slam he gave up to that 12 year old who is batting .208 and only have one other major league homer EVER… I understand, you want to pound the strike zone with fast balls, especially the first pitch, and if your location was perfect, that would probably work, but you are getting LIT UP, so its OBVIOUSLY not working for you…You wanna be the ace of this staff? Then starting acting like it!!

And it just gets better and better: Mike Lowell was taken out of the game in the 9th inning last night–apparently his left foot is a mess. He got hit by a foul ball the other night, but then he was hit again last night…he said that its throbbing and he can’t put weight on it…X-rays came back negative, but more in-depth stuff will be done today–do I need to say that we don’t need another guy on the DL???

The big report is that we claimed Javy Lopez off waivers from Baltimore. Depending how quick the logistics come together, he may be in uniform tonight….While I know we need the help, I have never been a huge fan of his….and I feel sorry for Ken Huckaby, who did very well last night as catcher, and went 1-3…he was designated for assignment right after last night’s game…

In exchange for Javy, the Orioles would probably receive one of the following: center fielder Adam Stern, infielder Alejandro Machado, or, less likely, lefthander Abe Alvarez….WHY would we mortgage any of these guys for a catcher for A MONTH? Noooooooooooooooo!!!

Keith Foulke pitched last night in Pawtucket, going one inning with one walk and two strikeouts, Foulke threw 18 pitches, 10 for strikes. Barring any unforeseen, he will pitch again tomorrow…If all goes well, he’ll probably throw two innings Monday, or pitch in back-to-back games Monday and Tuesday…

Manny stats: Extending his hitting streak to 19 games wit the RBI single in the first inning of last night’s game, Manny is one shy of his career high of 20 games. He also hit the 1,500-RBI mark, making him 45th all-time, nine behind
    Mickey Mantle.

Did I call this or what?: Matt Clement has been shut down–for the next 3 weeks he will do no throwing….”The problem is that when he’s throwing, he doesn’t feel like he can let it go without hurting himself,” Tito said “There’s some apprehension. He’s gone through his long-toss program fairly well. When he’s on flat ground, he does fairly well. When he gets on the slope of the mound, that’s when he starts feeling apprehension.” Apparently he has shoulder tendonitis, so they are going to try this to see if it works. They are also talking about surgery after the season is over–but if it’s just inflamed, would surgery do any good? Or is it more than that? And can we talk–Head Case????

‘Tek’s surgery went well–the good news is he can start rehab immediately. Estimated time of return? September 1, although he may not be back full time then…

August 3rd: It was a good run–Can we reclaim 1st place? Or are our injuries too much? I think we have done pretty well with 2 pitchers in our starting rotation, plus the loss of our captain, right fielder and (possibly) our 3rd basemen…and I DO think we are a better teams than perfume boy and his lot…Oh, hell…

Tonight: Curt Schilling vs Jamie Shields, 7:05pm
