Red Sox 1, Royals 0 1-Run games always make me nervous…

Posted by Christine E. at 12:30 pm in General Comments (6)

And what about Jon Lester with his 8 innings of 1 HIT ball??? 100 pitches, 57 for strikes..Yes, he walked 4, but also struck out 4…and improving his record to 5-0. Much improved in terms in pitch efficiency…he is getting deeper into games…and then Jonathan “automatic out” Papelbon comes in and pitches a perfect 9th–of 8 pitches–SEVEN for strikes….Holy Buckets, he is amazing!

I don’t know about you, but as I indicated above, 1-run game always make me nervous…. probably a throwback to “think of the worst that will happen, and it probably will…” Pre-2004. We never won those type of games, and sometimes it feels like we still don’t..it just seems so tenuous…

Red Sox doctors did a bone scan on Wake yesterday…and we wait for the results…

Welcome back Wily Mo Pena!! Jermaine Van Buren has also been called up, replacing Javier Lopez and Willie Harris..While I know Willie Harris is/was an asset on the base paths (when he’s not ignoring signs and getting tagged out or picked off) I can’t say I am sorry to see him go….and since he has been designated for assignment, and has already said he will not return to Pawtucket, I think our time together is over…and instead of J-Lo leaving, why not Seanez or Tavarez?? Yeah, I know, they have been around far to long, and are long out of options to be sent to Pawtucket–But it doesn’t hurt to dream…

Speaking of the “Z” Boys: A report on Foxsports.com by Ken Rosenthal indicated Colorado is interested in Julian Tavarez!! He spent the 2000 season with the Rockies, winning 11 games with a 4.43 ERA in 51 appearances, including 12 starts. Being a sinkerball pitcher is a valuable skill to have at Coors Field.

Jason Johnson gave up six runs in five innings Monday in his start for Triple-A Pawtucket…Now there is the Jason Johnson we know and love (er..not so much…) Everyone was all excited about his start at Class A Wilmington Blue Rocks, where he pitched seven innings, giving up 10 hits and four earned runs, as the Blue Rocks defeated the Frederick Keys, 5-4. PUHLEES…freaking SINGLE A ball is an indicator? I really hope this sick and twisted project known as the “Jason Johnson Experiment” is OVER now…

#$&@*#^&*#@^*&!!! The Skankees were down by 2 in the 9th last night and STILL manage to get the win! ARGH!!!

Today: Josh Beckett vs Mark Redman 1:05pm…hopefully this will go better than Beckett’s last game…

I’ll gear this review to 2 types of people: current Zune owners who are considering an upgrade, and people trying to decide between a Zune and an iPod. (There are other players worth considering out there, like the Sony Walkman X, but I hope this gives you enough info to make an informed decision of the Zune vs players other than the iPod line as well.)
