Red Sox 12, Tampa Bay 5 It’s about FREAKIN time…
…and all it took was a 6-RBI night by David Ortiz to right to ship (with props to Doug Mirabelli and Manny Ramirez with 2 each) When Manny hit the 2-run shot in the 1st I thought, ok, Wake just needs to buckle down and pitch one of those 1-run gems he is known for (and usually loses…) Yeah right, NOT happening…by the time we get to the 8th inning, its 6-5 and I am chewing on my nails wondering if we are going to let this game get away and be swept, which is more of an indignity than, say, getting HAMMERED by Cleveland 19-1…tehehehe
Since we are at about the halfway mark for the season, (tonight’s game will be 84) let’s do some comparing–stats are based on 81 games:

Interesting to note: while just about everything has remained flat compared to last year, the cause of the 4 game swing? Look at that field percentage. Unfortunately, we see to be making an error or 2 per game for the last few, after the record breaking run.
And because I am anal and like to use excel, How about 5 years of stats??

So, based on this, our projected record is: 100-62, a .617 winning percentage.
Couple of thoughts:
We had an identical record (17-9) in both May and June–didn’t it feel like we won a TON more in June?
Nomar got voted in 32nd Man for the All-Star team…He’s had a tough couple of years, and I am very happy for him. He seems to have righted the ship and is doing very well at his new position. A.J. Pierzynski gets the nod for the
AL…because we need yet ANOTHER member of the Chicago White Sox going, especially another with a BAD attitude.
Can I just tell you how PLEASED I am that Skeezy Bastard (Johnny Damon) doesn’t get to go?
Tonight: Jon Lester vs.. Mark Buehrle 8:35pm: Great, we get to hear from and about Ozzie Guillen for the next 3 days…and play baseball at weird times…
